surgery went well

Posted in Noah Updates
Noah's surgery went well.  We have a broviac and NO MORE IV!!!  He wasn't going to go down until mid-afternoon, but a slot opened up this morning and he was able to go down at about 9:45 or 10:00 this morning.  He was pretty miserable in recovery and in the room until he took a nap at 3:00.  He woke up sore and groggy, but feeling much better.  He's in bed coloring pictures right now.  :-)

He'll be getting full TPN tonight.   He's lost weight and I can see his ribs.  I'm so glad that we can get his nutrition back on track.  This has been a long road.  He's pretty weak and not willing to try to stand or walk, but I think he will feel a lot better tomorrow.

If all goes well, we may be heading home on Wednesday!

I'll post more tomorrow.  I'm very, very happy but also very, very tired.

Thank you for your prayers!

Blessings,
Kate

Aug. 17, 2009 - So Glad

Posted by Connie Post
So glad to hear that Noah did well today. I saw your crew at church yesterday and was praying that those kiddos would soon have their mommy and brother home so your family can all be together again. I remember my brother being stuck all over from head to toe and all the blown veins....I have been praying over those IVs and am praising God they are gone!

Blessings,

Connie

So glad to hear about the new Broviac!!! Glad it went as well as could be expected. Hopefully, both you and Noah will get some rest tonight. I'm sure his ribs won't be "quite" as noticeable when he starts getting his nutrition back on track. Now he can heal and start to get better. Will be praying for all things good, Kate, and for you guys to go home soon. I know the other kids miss you something terrible! Everything good. . . and then gooder. :)

Thank you for taking the time to post, Kate. You must be just very, very exhausted so we really appreciate the time you took to update us. Our family (all 7 of us) have been praying several times a day for Noah and our children have asked numerous times since yesterday afternoon, "does Noah still have his IV?" , "can Noah have his surgery tomorrow morning?" etc. They are all in bed now of course, but I will be so happy to share this news with them in the morning! Still praying, and trusting our great God to care for you in just the ways you need.

Love and blessings,

Aug. 17, 2009 - SO thankful the surgery went well

Posted by Anonymous
Dear Kate,

We're so very thankful to the Lord to hear that Noah's surgery went well, and that it was in the morning instead of later in the day (!!!); no more iv's; that he can get nutrition and fluids again, and so on!!!!!! And after the time of misery and pain you both have been going through, it's so heartening to hear that Noah was sitting up coloring later today! Makes me smile to think of him doing that.

I'm praying for fast healing, no more infections and mystery temps, etc., and that you will both soon be home with the rest of your dear family. Also am praying that you both will have deep, refreshing sleep tonight. I know you both must sorely need it.

God bless you all, and give you sweet dreams.

Love in Christ,
Dara

Praise God from whom all blessing flow!!!! We were in prayer yesterday. I'm so thankful there were no issues with putting in the new line. I pray now that the fevers will stop or they'll figure out the cause of them. But so VERY thankful they just decided to go ahead and put in a new line! I just don't think he could have waited any more days.

I'm so glad he got his while under anesthesia. Only my first one was done that way. The last one I had was the worst. Being completely awake while this is done made me pray for death to hurry.

I'll be you're all relieved.
