Is he, or isn't he?

Posted in Noah Updates
Took Noah in to see Dr. B today, and lo and behold Noah decided to pop a fever while he was there.  Ugh.  It was pretty low-grade, so we came home and Noah's nurse drew labs here at the house.  We'll know how they look in a couple of hours and Dr. B will call us with a plan at that point.  We discussed Noah's other issues while we were together but didn't really dig in since the focus was on getting these labs and figuring out whether Noah is truly sick.

In the meantime, Noah's temp has gone down and he doesn't look terrible.  Doesn't look good either, though.  Thanks to the DVD Fairy, a brand-new copy of Up arrived today for the older children.  None of them have seen it and Noah is chilling out with them and enjoying it.

I'm not even going to venture a "Mommy Radar" guess on this one.  As Jessica pointed out yesterday, there is a sort of post-traumatic stress thing that happens after close calls like the one Noah had so recently.  It throws my instincts off completely.  All I can say is that he really doesn't look awful and his temp is down.

Right now my focus is on refusing to listen to the voice of fear that says he didn't look awful in the beginning last time either . . . .nope, just not going to listen.

The Lord was gracious and I was able to get about 50 lbs each of ground beef and boneless chicken breasts at half price today so I can restock my freezer with casseroles.  I'm not sure I want to dig in and start cooking before I hear back on Noah's labs (that would be a bad project to leave half-finished!!) but I may go mix up some meatloaf to keep myself busy.  It's only maybe a 30 minute project so I can finish before I hear from Dr. B.

(Free homemaking tip of the day - freezing meatloaf in bulk is the easiest thing ever.  Just make your regular recipe and put into freezer bags without cooking it.  Smoosh the bags as flat as possible - it will thaw faster that way - and freeze.  When you want to cook meatloaf, thaw a bag, dump the meatloaf in your pan, shape, and bake.  It doesn't really take any longer to mix a huge batch of meatloaf than a small one but the payoffs are big when you want an easy dinner!)

Off to cook and pray and believe that Noah is fine this time.

I heard Jill Briscoe speak last week on the radion.
She said " courage is fear that has said her prayers."
So go Kate with courage. You have shown us by example so many times. God will get you there again! Praying for you! :-)

Okay, what's up with Dr. B's office! Maybe he should consider house calls with Noah! :)

Praying that the blood work comes back clean without sign of any infection or problems. I pray for Noah to regain his strength and health so he can play and enjoy the upcoming holidays. May He continue to bless and keep you in the palm of His hand.

God Bless,

for the Estes Family right now - as I get ready to go and thaw my ground beef, too!!!!
But first, I need to get the mac-n-cheese in the crock pot!!! Those make the best praying times - don't they!!!!

In the book of Job, God teaches us not to ask "why me?" He wants us to ask "what can I learn from this situation?" Kate and Jeff: I can only imagine that you both are so tired of "learning" and are now just wanting him happy and smiling and maybe alot less sick. But THANK YOU for teaching us how to "learn"! It's o.k to complain and whine once in awhile - this disease has to be very exhausting!

Just remember - He will not give you both any more than you can handle!!
So make your meatloaf - spread out those hugs - watch - "Up"! Need your opinion on that one - good or not so good???

Good on you Kate. You are doing well. I'm standing with you in prayer. Others too. Together we're sending a sweet aroma of faith heavenward. The kind of thing that rejoices God's heart (Hebrews 11:6) because our faith is the weapon He uses against Satan's ploys.
As the Bible says, And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith. (1John 5:4b) And what is it to overcome the world? It is to overcome Satan, the wicked one. (1John 2:13b) The god of this world/age. (2 Cor 4:4)

theres a new song and a group - Christian group - maybe you have heard of it.

Just heard it again - thought of you all when I heard it. It is called "Your Hands" by JJ Heller. Listen to it when you get a moment - gave me a few tears - as I was thinking of the Estes family!

Haves a Blessed Weekend!

Nov. 10, 2009 - PRAYING!!!!!!!!!!

I can't imagine the fear after almost losing him this last time. I was scared for all of you. Praying that Christ gives you peace even while knowing there are parents' grieving the loss of their child with mito. Noah is tenderly and lovingly holding Noah and he is there with you and your kiddos. Praying for discernment and wisdom for your Doctors and you and your husband. ENJOY each precious moment that Noah is home and I'm believing and praying that he will in time recover "completely" as he can and will be home for a very, very long season. I hope he has several good months without any issues that concern you. GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME!!!
IN CHRIST ALONE, we can face an unknown future!
Knowing and trusting that God's love and the Holy Spirit will lead us, guide us, and give us the strength and joy in the LORD to face each day. No matter what comes our way! Praying for dear friend whose husband and son are having heart issues. Please lift them up fellow blog readers! Praying y'all and them have the peace that passes all understanding!
To GOD be the GLORY for the things only He can do.
Your sister in Christ!

Kate,

I am so glad Noah's labs are going up. I so believe in seeing what our kids bodies can do. They are truly amazing. We so often see them so very, very, sick. Then a couple hours later they are their bed bouncing around. So, often when I see Brianna do that. I ask, myself....what just happened here. How can she be so sick, yet, so bubbly. Their all just amazing. Especially, all that they endure daily.

I hope you and Jeff can fit that special treat in as well. It is definitely the simplist things in life. That sometimes make the most wonderful memories.

I am going to keep praying for his labs to keep going up, and for Noah to get a break for a while from the medical world!!!!

Hugs:)
