I like "clouds". A blog cloud is created by analyzing all of the words on a blog (excluding common words like "the" and "and") and then assigning each unique word a size based on its frequency of occurance. It is a fun visualization tool that can tell you a lot about a blog and its author. (I was surprised at how often I've used the words previous and permanent.)
You can create your own blog cloud here.

Most visitors to my blog find me through the homeschool blog list on The Well Trained Mind website, messages I post on the WTM Message Boards, or through the Carnival of Homeschooling. I know this because I use a blog counter, provided by StatCounter, that tells me the web sites through which readers come to my blog. If that website was a search engine (like Google), I can also see what the person was searching for. This can prove rather amusing. Recent searches that led people here were:
happy birthday frodo
happy birthday frodo!!
old dirt road, ramblin' rose lyrics
tupperware lettuce crisper
the sea monkey stole my money
noah kalina myspace
life is but a stage
procrastination math poem
challenged books jungle books
But, by far the most popular search is a Google Image search for "Locks of Love Before and After Photos". It is very strange to see a photo of the back of Primo's head on Google Images!
Yes, I am easily amused.

I am attempting to install categories in the sidebar that will link to Amazon.com the books we are reading and the movies we are watching. However, I am VERY new to HTML programming and have so far only been able to provide category titles and a link to The Hobbit that does not work.
Bear with me and hopefully I will get this up and running shortly.

The photo is of our oldest dc at the statue of Hans Christian Anderson in Central Park, NYC. I can't believe it was taken almost a year ago... the day before St. Patrick's Day 2005!

Especially when I finally have my blog up and running!
Yes folks, this blog has existed (blank) for almost a year and thanks to a lot of help from Aduladi', I have officially limped out of the starting block into the world of blogging! (You can just ignore the other 2 I am trying to get up and running... which I will make very easy by not giving you the addresses!)
I thought this would be a good way to keep friends and family a part of our school and a good means of accountability for me. Please bear with me as I am new to this, and haven't a clue as to what I am doing... to which Aduladi' can attest.
As a basic background to our school. We are a (loose) classical homeschool of 4 students (not including the adults), one tutor and a principal. Yes, we teach Latin! We have based our curriculum on the Trivium as described in The Well-Trained Mind and Recovering the Lost Tools of Learning.
So far we are loving the "Great Conversation".
Won't you join us?
