Here are my responses to Gena's contest. . .
WHY WE HOMESCHOOL
"Hear, O Isreal: The Lord our God is one Lord; And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thysoul and with all thy might. And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in thine heart: And THOU SHALT TEACH THEM DILIGENTLY UNTO THY CHILDREN, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."
Deuteronomy 6:4-7
Parents have been commanded to "Teach their children" . . . not the government . . . not the public schools . . . and not necessarily, the church.
It is OUR OWN responsibility to "Train our children up in the way he should go: that when he is old, he will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:6
HOW LONG WE WILL HOMESCHOOL
"I HAVE NO GREATER JOY than to hear that my children walk in truth."
III John 1:4
High School? YES! Maybe even College! DS(9) wondered aloud, "Mom, can you home school me through College?" It is a joy to teach my children according to their individual gifts and help them grow in ". . .Wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man." Luke 2:52
BEST ADVICE FOR NEW HOME SCHOOLERS
And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and GREAT SHALL BE THE PEACE of thy children." Isaiah 54:13
I am so thankful that THE LORD, my husband and I can have the greatest influence on our children's upbringing . . . and not their peer group. That brings our family great peace!
