What is a Finger Skate Board
I got this question several times ----What is a finger skateboard? (in ref to my post below). Well here is a link to see what I am talking about. They are very popular amongst boys, but I would not have known either had it not been for my former Pastor's son who had a bunch of them. You can do tricks with them etc, though I don't know all the in's and out's of this hobby. You can buy them for about the same price at WM or Target or just about any toys store. This was just the first link I found that had a decent picture. Brandon's found booty has about 25 in the bag along with wheels and little screws for changing out the wheels.

A lesson in doing the right thing..
We don't know our neighbors, we just moved into this house and have yet to meet anyone. But I know they don't have small kids but I believe they have grandkids . A bag appeared overnight in their yard. It was hidden by their motorhome and bushes. After it sat there for several days I went to retrieve it. It was obvious they didn't know it was there. It's filled with "finger skateboards", which really appealed to Brandon. We talked about it how it would feel to lose his toys and not get them back. He understood that and agreed the 'right' thing would be to write a note and put the bag on their doorstep and not keep the contents. I mean, after all it was in their yard, not mine!! But that fact aside, it's prob not theirs. I think it fell off someone who was biking down the street (maybe it belongs to my Pastor, Diamonds hubby???) . We included in the note how we found it and that we would like to get it back to the owner. But we also included that if they didn't want it and didn't know who owned it my son would be interested in the contents. I don't think that was the wrong thing to suggest. Was it? Well, we will see how this turns out. But I am pleased with my son and his willingness to try to find the owner. Even if you do the right thing, it might not turn out the way we want but we can be happy knowing that God is pleased at our efforts. And that is the lesson I wanted Brandon to learn.
I have a feeling a trip to WM is coming up to buy his own fingerskate boards. LOL
******Update****. The neighbor next door came over, they don't own the bag or the contents. Looks like Brandon gets to keep them after all..

We survived First Grade!!
It's been a long year but we have finally wrapped up our lessons!! There were many struggles this year and we are still not out of the woods yet, but when I look back at where we started, Brandon has really come a long way! His reading is getting stronger and I am learning to adapt to his learning style, making things easier for both of us. We started a Bible study late this year, so I will continue with those lessons through the summer.. We also got behind in Spelling, so we wil continue to work on that too. I went through all his school stuff and got his second grade books in order. I enjoyed that!! To me it's exciting, getting it all organized. Our 15 year old grandson is coming to visit in a few weeks. We are looking forward to that . He's lots of fun. After he leaves, I will start reviewing material with Brandon working on some of his weaker areas (phonics). I plan to start second grade towards the end of August or first part of Sept. It will all depend on how he is progressing while we are reviewing. I am praying second grade goes a little smoother!! LOL
Feeling old-
It's hard to believe but my baby girl is turning 18 on July 4th! Where did the time go??? Brandon turns 7 in August. I am feeling OLD!! LOL
Prayers requested-
My mom is still in Oregon caring for her dying MIL She has been there since May 17th. . Please keep the family in your prayers.

Chicken pox and Shingles
We have two boys in our church who have the chicken pox. Most likely they developed it from their grandfather who has Shingles. A friend told me you can develop chicken pox from someone who has Shingles. I knew she was correct, but I had other questions so I did some research..
Did you know you can get chicken pox from someone who has Shingles? Yes, you can, it's the same virus.
Did you know that you can't get Shingles from someone who has Shingles?. Correct. You can't. Shingles is caused by the chicken pox virus, which never leaves your body. It lays dormant in your system and can reoccur, usually after the age of 50. It can appear anywhere on your body and can be serious-affecting your eyes and hearing. It certainly is painful. But it in itself is not contagious, unless you've never had chicken pox, or the vaccine. But you will not get Shingles from someone who has Shingles
Can you get chicken pox more than once? Yes. But it's rare. But it does happen and usually because the first case was a mild one.
When are you contagious? Well, that's a hard one. Usually you're contagious before you know you're sick. Then you're contagious all through the rash till the last pox is crusted over. That can take up to 10-15 days, or less if your case was a mild one. In Julia's case she was 'quarantined' for about 15 days.
Should I get my child vaccinated? That's up to you. There are many varying opinions . You can develop Shingles from the chicken pox shot later on. However, the chance is less than if you had the actual illness, but it is possible.
And, yes, there is a immunization shot for chicken pox and for Shingles.
Anyway there is tons of information out there. I only provided a few sites.
