Tot School- Princess style
Our Tot school this week had a bit of a royal flare! This theme started with two books that "Princess", my 10 year old daughter read to "Precious".
King Midas (Dr.Suess version) was the first read. I remember reading this book as a child. The next book was called "Princess Stories".....
Then with the blocks, they worked on making a "castle"
Next came the creating of crowns....
This part was LOTS of FuN!
Here is my Prince and Princess:
Later that day... "Precious" walks up to me in a dress with a tiny purse asking for her crown. They were ready for a tea party (compliments of the older girls). So we had a cute little tea party before supper!

Sukkot ~ The Feast of the TabernaclesI love this time of year, the leaves letting go, the tempertures dropping and the Fall Festivals. Not Halloween or Harvest Festivals, but the High Holy Days, Rosh HaShana. Yom Kippur and now Sukkot! We have gone from Repentance and the sounding blasts of the Shofar, to the Fasting hunger of redemption and now the favor of the Lord brings about the Season of rejoicing! Here in Northern California as we begin to put up our sukkah we are blessed to have Myrtle brandches ( Bay tree) and palm leaves to lay across the roof which will be fragrant and freshly cut. Seven Days and nights of peeking through the branches and getting a glimpse of what God has created and wondering aloud at what is yet to come. It is here out in the open exposed to the elements that we recall how dependant we are on the Lord our Provider. His people and brought them across on dry land. Theis is a shaky shelter, a temporary shelter for just as they were heading to a better place a land flowing with milk and honey, so is this just a temporary dwelling place a shelter that will not stand forever. Verses for Sukkot: Lev. 23:33-36,39-43 Deut 28:1-2,15, Lev 26:14-39 Numbers 29:12-38 Deut.16:13-15 Psalm 42, 81 Ezra 3:1-4, Neh. 8:14-15 Joel 2:28, Isaiah 12: 3, Isaiah 44:3, Eze. 36:24-27 John 7:37-39 John 14:17, 1 Cor. 12:13 Psalms 120-134 Some of my favorite sites http://www.torahtots.com/holidays/sukkot/sukkot.htm http://www.chadiscrafts.com/fun/ediblesukkah.html http://www.biblicalholidays.com/tabernacles.htm http://www.aish.com/holidays/sukkot/default.asp http://joi.org/celebrate/sukkot/thanks.shtml http://www.shemayisrael.co.il/yomtov/sukkot/skpages.htm Chag sameach!!!
Jordan's 14th BirthdayJordan only asked to have a few friends over for cake during Family Camp for his birthday this year. So we drove into town and bought a cake. It rained and rained that day. I had a video of us singing Happy Birthday to Ian along with The Phillips Family and two other friends at Family Camp (actually two of Kaitlyn's friends, Amanda and Arrij.) Anyway, in the video you can barely hear us singing b/c of the sound of the rain pounding on the canvas of the screen room above our picnic table. However, the cake was delicious and Jordan was thrilled!
Another UpdateHey, everybody! I guess I'll give you all another update about how life is going for me the last few weeks since I last posted on here. Well, everything is going great. I got to check my grades again today, and the lowest grade I have is a B, which is in History. All the rest are A's and A plus'. I am happy with those grades. I am doing a lot better than I ever thought I would. However, I am not smart enough to be a librarian yet. LOL! :-)Tomorrow my mom and some of us others are going to parent/teacher conferences at my school. I can't wait for my mom to meet my teachers. I just can't wait! And I have nothing to worry about. All my grades are looking good, nothing to hide. I have been staying for the after school program at my school Monday thru Thursday. I am pretty much just working on weight lifting there right now, not as much running. I usually only do about two miles a day now, instead of six miles lately. So, some of you should e-mail me sometime. You know my email: bloomingroseforchrist@yahoo.com ~Rose Four Day Weekend! My hubby and I are both taking a four day weekend this week. We are not going anywhere, just spending time together and getting projects done. One of those projects is getting my NEW LAPTOP up and running! YAY!!! Last weekend we bought me a brand spanking new Gateway laptop with a 17 inch screen! (The screen size is a big deal to me since my current one is 11 inches! LOL) See how much bigger the new one is? The old one really is a "notebook computer, it is exactly the size of a spiral notebook. LOL) (Oh, and the old one is NOT an apple. I just put that sticker on that came with my Ipod. It is funny because people are always telling me "I never knew Apple made a laptpop that small.")Anyway, the laptop is sorely needed! My current one is beyond being on it's last leg. Some days I have to pray to get it to boot up! LOL (If only I were kidding!) So hopefully when I return on Tuesday I will be well rested and super fast on my new computer! I will see you Tuesday! Happy Homeschooling, Jamin A Fairly Typical Day at Our House... In Pictures!End it by 2025.So there are these really cool shirts that I've been seeing around! They are like really awesome. I didn't even know they had a specific purpose, until I bought one. On the front of the shirt, there is a peace sign. Then on the bottom (left if you are wearing it) right corner, it says '2025.' If you look closely at the peace sign, it's actually the continent of Africa. I hadn't known how popular these shirts were! Apparently, 25% of the proffits from selling these shirts goes to a company to end poverty in Africa by 2025. Isn't that cool?
Ashley Tisdale in a 2025 shirt.
You can go to mytrendytees.com to find these shirts. Search for Omni-Peace 2025.. or something like that. Or, go to Google.com to search this organization and find more ways to help. I bought mine at Fred Meyer... You don't have to buy one, but please remember to pray for them. Prayin or donating can help: Them Them
Him
Them
I am not advertising for this. It may seem like it, but I'm not. I think it would be very cool to end poverty by 2025. It's a while from now, but still. If you can not donate, then please remember these people in your prayers every day. Money helps, but prayer is the ultimate. God will heal, God will redeem. He will help. Almost All Grown UpHello, friends! It's been a few days longer than I planned to get back here and update our quail project. Truthfully, I'm having a bit of trouble with my laptop, and there are very few things I've been able to get accomplished in the last week. Many sites wouldn't load. My e-mail would choose to send or not send at its every whim. *sigh* Have I mentioned I have a love-hate relationship with my technology? I can't even get to my own site to moderate it right now, and that is driving me crazy. :'P Feel free to pray for the perfect available laptop for me. ;'DOkay, enough of that. On to the fun stuff! Our quail hatched on September 22nd (the First Day of Autumn), which makes them now about 18 days old. It seems like they should be older to me, but I just counted on the calendar. Technically, they aren't quite three weeks old yet. Isn't that amazing? They are changing so fast, I barely recognize the little chicks for what they were. If you look at the previous post, you'll see the photos that sort of chronicle their grown over the last couple weeks. It's been lightning-fast for us! Now, they are nearly completely feathered. Interesting things we've learned over the last weeks:
I hope you've enjoyed our little update. Pictures are coming...if I can get the laptop to give it the old "college try" in talking to my camera. ;') Whatever the case, have a fabulous day, friends! After all, it's THURSDAY! ("And there was much rejoicing!") ![]() Making ButterIt had never occurred to me to make butter with my kids! Tuesday night at our first American Girl Club the mom that hosted us in her home made homemade butter to go on the blueberry muffins and pumpkin bread she made for the girls. My daughter went nuts over it! So when we got ready to leave this sweet homeschool mom gave my daughter a jar half full of cream with a pinch of salt. She told her to shake it all the way home in the car. (About 15 - 20 minutes.) and then when we got home to put the whole thing in the refrigerator. Well guess what? This morning we had delicious homemade butter for our toast! (All we had to do is drain the buttermilk off!)YUM!! ![]() My daughter is sure that we no longer need to buy pre-made butter! LOL I am still amazed that I never knew how easy it is to make butter! (All I knew was that my Mom has an old butter churning crock from her parents farm. I always knew it was missing the wooden paddle used to churn the butter. So I just thought it was some super complicated process! LOL) I am sure glad another homeschool mom took the time to teach me something new! Here some online directions I found if you want more details on how to do this. (Although we did not add vanilla like these directions mention.) Happy Homeschooling, Jamin { Last Page } { Page 1 of 5 } { Next Page } |
