The Homesteading Carnival #123
I'm excited to be hosting the Homesteading Carnival again, even if I do feel a bit intimidated by the task. I'm not sure why I feel intimidated. I guess a lot of it has to do with my lack of skills in the homesteading department. -- LOL! However, I shall do my best to present the homesteading articles that were submitted for this week's carnival in an attractive way. Please let me know your thoughts!
Wren over at True Adventures in Money Hacking takes a break from her regular adventures with personal finances to discuss the lost art of loving our neighbors, or "the fence that makes good neighbors needs a gate to make good friends." She doesn't mince words as she compares the neighbors she has in Costa Rica to those she had while still living in the United States.
Bob presents "health insurance options for Christians" posted at Christian Personal Finance.
Maureen at the Inglenook Decor's Blog shares
the "top 10 things [she's] grateful for in this Decor World." One of which is that her favorite color (yellow) is now "mainstream."
Lori at Telling Secrets gives step-by-step instructions for "make it yourself Christmas #3 Candy Cane Ornaments." The picture makes these candy canes appear to be very difficult to craft, but the instructions include very clear photos. I might have to try this out myself!
Lisa presents "top 10 extreme eco-friendly homes" posted at Construction Management Degrees. These homes are incredible! They range in size and diversity from the Ewok Tree House (shown at the right) to a 9,800 squarefoot luxury home.
Emma at Baby-Log tells "how to buy a high chair you won’t regret buying, part 1." Even though she didn't submit part 2 to the carnival, I'm including a link to it, too, in case anyone is interested.

Dana at Principled Discovery shares about "instilling mindfulness in our homeschool." She includes a quote from a book that tells of a homesteader's view of her family's "simplified life." She goes on to compare this to homeschooling her children and how she hopes they will take ownership in their own education. (I, too, hope my children will do this!)
Submit your blog article to the next edition of the homesteading carnival using the carnival submission form. They're always looking for new hosts; so if you'd like to host a carnival, please email them.
Next week's host will be Shannon at Mountaineer Country.
I am "hosting" these pictures on my blog. If you'd like to use them, please click on them and save them to your own computer. Thank you.

My Fifth "Loving My Husband Friday"
Loving My Husband Friday is for taking the time to focus on the positives of marriage. A time to build up your marriage and your spouse. Focus on something you love about your husband, something he did to encourage you this week, or just a tip on how to keep your marriage strong. Let your husband know you're bragging on him...everyone loves praise and accolades. Try to spend the rest of your week focusing on all the great traits of your spouse...especially when you're tempted to focus on the bad! And don't forget to pray for your husband and marriage as you write your post.Has it really been three weeks since my last "Loving My Husband Friday"?! So much has happened, and my hubby has been so helpful in the midst of it all! Thank you, Sugar Pie!
- My aunt & uncle passed away.
- I flew to DFW to be w/ my 'extended' family for a few days.
- My hubby stayed behind to care for our children and to work while I was gone.

My Fourth "Loving My Husband Friday"
Loving My Husband Friday is for taking the time to focus on the positives of marriage. A time to build up your marriage and your spouse. Focus on something you love about your husband, something he did to encourage you this week, or just a tip on how to keep your marriage strong. Let your husband know you're bragging on him...everyone loves praise and accolades. Try to spend the rest of your week focusing on all the great traits of your spouse...especially when you're tempted to focus on the bad! And don't forget to pray for your husband and marriage as you write your post. For my fourth "Loving My Husband Friday," I love that he wants to spend time with me! Maybe you think, "Well, duh!" But, I have a really low self-image, so it makes me feel good (and secure) knowing that he likes to spend time with me. Thank you, Honey! I love you!
