Hello, and Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah!
It is coming pretty close to Christmas. We have dubbed this Christmas a "Thrift-store Christmas". I don't care what I get, it's just the fact that anybody would want to get me a gift for Christmas.(Yes, we are not Santa believers, sorry if I offend anybody, but we just don't believe in him!) Talking about Santa Claus, I really wonder how anybody these days could believe in Santa! I mean, Just look around you! Think about all the kids that are cold, hungry, and utterly disapointed by believing in Santa Claus! Our parents have never hidden the fact from us that there is not a Santa Claus. For example...
One time in Children's Church (this was a while back, okay!) My brother Nick and I were sitting at a table with some other kids, and a discussion started about whether or not there was a Santa Claus. Well, Nick was getting tired of hearing Santa Claus discussed, so, thinking of Saint Nick, he stood up and declared with a lot of force: "Santa Claus is dead!" which caused a girl to burst out sobbing, and a lot of people started screaming at him. I decided to try to help, so I shouted out: "He's talking about Saint Nick!" but, unfortunately, that only made things worse. By the time our Sunday School teachers had everybody calmed down, the damage had already been done. So... the moral of the story is: Stay away from discussions or arguments about Santa Claus! ;-)
Well, now that I have told you about that, let me get angry about the comercialization of Christmas! I hat the way that the stores are using Christmas to sell things! Oh, and another thing about stores and CHRISTmas, it is now "Happy Holidays!" and "Seasons Greetings!" which is dumb! They can't even leave the Christ in CHRISTmas! The don't want Christianity to have any part in the "Holidays"! Have you noticed that most stores are now playing Jingle bells, Deck the halls with boughs of Holly, We wish you a merry Christmas (okay, it has CHRISTmas in it, but it doesn't mention CHRIST), JIngle bell rock and other "Holiday" songs that do not include Christ!
Thank you for allowing me to rant and rave about Santa Claus and the commercialization of "The Holidays"!
God bless,
Emily |
