Youtube to the Rescue!!
I can make quilts, but clothes on the other hand are usually pretty difficult for me. Most times, my mind just can't grasp how to put the pieces together after reading the directions. I need someone to show me how. Usually that someone is Brad! But what do I do when I don't have a Brad around?
Well with lots and lots of prayer, and a bit of God given patience I think I have done fairly well with this dress of Gracie's. It only took me two days to figure out how to put the elastic around the wrists, but I finally figured it out! It only took me one long night to figure out how to baste and gather! And now, here I am three nights into my invisible zipper! I couldn't understand the written directions, so I googled for invisible zipper tutorials, and I thought that would help. I ended up putting it on wrong and upside down. So I prayed just one more time for a little understanding, and God said to me, "Heidi, try Youtube!" My goodness, it was there, and it was exactly how I thought it was supposed to be, but I can't ever figure those things out on my own, I usually need someone to show me first. And why I didn't think of Youtube first is beyond my understanding, but I liked leaning on God to show me!
So now I am off to have a nice visit with my friend Seam Ripper (she and I have become quite good friends over the course of this past week and a half), and to make some tea for Zoe. All three girls are sick again. I guess we've really been given our share of sickness this winter! |
