Food Allergy News From Our House

• Sep. 9, 2007 - NO MORE LAROSA'S!!!

Posted in Randy's Spot

I no longer trust Larosa's!  I just recently learned that they have pesto in their kitchen's!  It is used in some of their menu items, but my concern is the possibility of cross-contamination.  As you know, Randy is highly allergic to nuts, and it wouldn't take much to harm him.

Just to be official, I called Larosa's myself to confirm this bit of news.  They offered to put an alert on our phone number so that if we were to order pizza, the manager would be who would fix our order.  While this is a generous offer, keep in mind that there are many teenagers, and other people who just are not aware of food allergies that work back in those kitchens.  There is no way I can be sure that our food ingredients would not come into contact with this pesto.

Bummer, I know, but we will be fine!

This is just terrible news! I know how much we always have been lucky to have the convenience if ordering out on so many occasions. Birthdays, Halloween, etc.. I am just glad that we have been fortunate enough to have never had to deal with a tragedy because we have been oblivious to the possible cross contamination until now. I am glad we know that "yet" another food is no longer safe for poor little Randy. Thanks Amy!

You know, it will only take time for us to get use to the new restriction of "no eating out." It will take more planning on our part to come prepared, but so be it. It is easy to stay in shock and just be stressed, but with time and a little effort, I am sure we will be fine. I just keep telling myself that at least I will know he is eating healthy! :-)
