The Laundromat Song
I've been listing old sheet music from the 40s and 50s at our website the last two days and I came across this GEM!

The Laundromat Song by Harry Tobias, Pinky Tomlin, and Charley Kisco.

You don't need a beautiful setting,
For love to get a start
Just let me tell you my love story,
Where and how I lost my heart.

I met her at the corner LAUNDROMAT
We had a little chat down at the LAUNDROMAT;
And in between our clothes were gettin' clean,
To the swish, swish, swish, of the LAUNDROMAT machine.

You'd never think, romance could blossom here;
It never would appear romance could blossom here.
But here's the theme, that put us on the beam,
'twas the swish, swish, swish, of the LAUNDROMAT machine

We ironed our all our future plans.
How those wedding bells did ring.
Then the years brought souvenirs
Of love and everything.

Here comes the best part!

That ole man stork keeps knockin' at our door.
He never seems to tire of knockin' at our door.
By ___! Our wash is growin' more and more,
What with Hazel, Jimmy, Mary, Tommy, Susie, Joseph, Joan and Pat!

We had to buy the LAUNDROMAT.

Isn't that just great? Apparently it's quite rare, I can't seem to find it on Google.

Accompanying Young Children
Intructions on weighing pregnant women, (taken from Nutrition During Pregnancy published by the National Academy Press)

"This requires weighing women without purses, shoes, boots, coats, jackets, or any accompanying young children." (emphasis mine)

I thought that was so funny I had to go read it to Kristen. After all, who would be so dim-witted as to weigh mothers with their children?

Then, when I read it to Kris, she pointed something out I hadn't noticed. Every pregnant women is constantly accompanied by a certain small child who is, in fact, the whole reason behind the weighing!

At that point it became hysterical to me! I hope you get a laugh too. :)

BTW, this book takes the cake as the world's most boring book. I gave it up and started on Brewer's instead, it wasn't required reading.

Bet You Didn't Know...

That fetal blood flows through the umbilical cord at a rate of about 4 miles per hour.

We Greatly Rejoice

Blessed be the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Who has caused us to be
Born again to a living hope,
Who has caused us to be
Born again to a living hope,
A hope that won’t fade away,
Reserved in heaven for us.
Protected by the power of God
Through faith we are saved.

We are saved!

We greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible,
Greatly rejoice with glorious praise.
Greatly rejoice in a life incorruptible,
Love beyond measure and infinite grace,
Love beyond measure and infinite grace.

Through the trials of life You’re working
To prove our faith as gold.
In Your love we’re persevering,
For one day soon we know
You’ll explode through the clouds,
As Your shout cracks the sky,
Dead in Christ will arise,
As You call home Your bride
And though we’ve not seen Your face,
This greatest glory awaits.
‘Till then by the power of God
Through faith we are saved.

We are saved!

We greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible,
Greatly rejoice with glorious praise.
Greatly rejoice in a life incorruptible,
Love beyond measure and infinite grace,
Love beyond measure and infinite grace.

Words and Music by Steve Earl.

Yes, we've had the chicken pox this month. Thankfully we are all over it except Kate (yellow shirt) and I (pink floral top and pony tail).

I hope you get a good laugh or at least a small chuckle out of this. After you watch ours go to YouTube and check out the homeschooler version, not by us.

Water fight!
This week mom picked up several water squirters as a surprise from the Dollar Store. There was a momentary stampede when she brought them home with everyone dashing madly about grabbing their swimsuits and helping the little ones with theirs. Then they _____ *searching for the right adjective here, need something to describe the "woosh"ing noise they made* out the door.

I followed at a safe distance with my camera for your benefit...

Her look of determination is quite impressive, isn't it?

This plastic t-ball stand divides the yard into
TWO zones. For TWO teams. With TWO water buckets.

Though I never heard the rules officially stated, the apparent goal of the game was to bombard the opposing team with water as hard and fast as possible while making occasional mad dashes through their territory to refill from their bucket.

The dashing process is demonstrated for us here,

And the refilling process is demonstrated for us here!

I would love to show you all the pics I took, but I don't think I'll have many readers left afterward if this post takes longer than an hour to load. so.... I shall leave you with those.
