Friday Show and Tell...My Blue and White Toile Kitchen

Each Friday, Kelli at There's No Place Like Home, hosts a Show and Tell. Today I'd like to share photos of one of my most favorite rooms in our home...the kitchen. When we remodeled our house seven years ago, I know many people wondered about my choice of interior colors. But I just KNEW that a blue/white toile kitchen with yellow accents was what I wanted. And I've never regretted that decision. My kitchen makes me happy, and since I spend so much time in there...that's a very good thing! To me the color combinations are cheerful! So, without further adieu...welcome to my kitchen!

Entrance from living room into kitchen...yes, it's time to paint again! LOL

At the doorway is my 'cookbook/calendar area'...These are just some of my cookbooks...I have WAY too many! But my Gooseberry Patch cookbooks, MOMY's cookbook, and Sue Gregg cookbooks all reside here with other favorites! And I just LOVE my Gooseberry Patch calendar...my kind of 'artwork'!

Do you see the yellow flowerpots I got at Cracker Barrel on clearance last year? One is on the table holding apples, and the other is by the stove holding cooking utensils. I think they were less than $3.00 each (originally $10.00), and worth every penny. And if I ever get tired of using them in my kitchen, I can always, you know, plant flowers in them or something! LOL There is a little silver label on each one that says 'Bloom'...I like that! I need to 'bloom' where I am planted...and many times, that's in the kitchen!

This wasn't my original china cabinet. Actually, this was my grandmother's cabinet, and it used to be dark wood. I had it in Wesley's room as a bookcase. But when we did our kitchen in this style, I painted it white and 'transplanted' it. Like everything else, it's once more in need of a good coat of paint! Now, the topper cabinet we once used to hold china is in Wesley's room serving as a display cabinet. The old switch-a-roo! I think I inherited my Mama's boldness when it comes to moving furniture, re-doing, and using old stuff in a new way! And you can see the toile wallpaper below the chair rail. That makes me happy too!

Yet another view!

Another look at my utensil 'pot'! BTW, I love my vintage rolling pin and use it often!

Last one...really and truly! LOL

Thank you for visiting with me in my kitchen today and have a blessed weekend!

I just loved this show and tell. Just a few days ago I wrote about my desire to have a yellow walled, blue and white deco-ed sun room! To see that someone else has done this odd arrangement is positively DELIGHTFUL!

Thank you for sharing!

Your home is as lovely within as it is without. I had my kitchen redone a year ago, but I just don't seem to have the flair for decorating that you do, though. I wish we were neighbors and you wouldn't mind stopping in for some tea in exchange for some decorating advice. Maybe I will take some pictures and either send them to you or post them on my own blog. I need help! *chuckle* God bless you and yours. Your kitchen is beautiful.

Hello, I just found your blog and I am enchanted. I love your kitchen! And for good reason...I have white cupboards, blue walls, and my table and china cabinet done in 1950's blonde finish add the yellow. I also love the cottage feel of your kitchen. God bless you! I'll be back to visit.

I found your blog this morning and I had to write and let you know that I was so encouraged! I too am a Christian and I homeschooled my children. It was a blessing to visit your home and to meet a Christian lady that loves her home and family and enjoys making it a haven! That is so rare in this day and time! Thank you for sharing!
