We have been super busy-busy-busy around our home lately, but I did want to pop in and acknowledge the first day of autumn...definitely my favorite season! So...Happy Fall Y'all!
I am loathe to even say this since it seems to be my never-ending song, but I had to stay home from church with two sick little boys today. Alexander especially has had a rough go of it for several days now. We took him to the doctor Friday. He has an ear infection plus a cold with lots of congestion/cough/fever. Poor baby! But I do think he's feeling some better now. Needless to say, our rocking chair has rocked many miles lately!
Erin, Elisabeth and Wesley have been getting their 4-H and other entries ready for the Georgia National Fair. That's a nice way of saying that our house is torn out from one end to the other! LOL Oh, the joys of creative children! I have a long post all written out in my mind, and hopefully I can get it 'transfered' to my blog soon. I have a lot of catching up to do!
Well, I do hope you all have a blessed day. I think we'll take notes from Kelli and her crew today and watch Anne of Green Gables to celebrate the first day of autumn. I don't have any maple cookies baked, but I did bake two pecan custard pies with meringue yesterday...maybe those will work just as well!
LOL However, those cookies look delicious, and I will be trying them soon!
PS...I have to tell you all about the book I've been drooling over! It's called Mary Engelbreit's Home Sweet Home...and it contains oodles of photographs of her home! It's an absolute feast for the eyes! I highly recommend this book to any who love English Country Cottage style decorating! Yes, there are some areas in her home that are signature 'Mary' with checks and cherries, but I think you might be surprised with some of her ideas...gorgeous! The cover looks like this:
I got the book through inter-library loan, but it is definitely one for my 'wish list!'
Blessings to all, and Lord willing, I'll be back soon to fill you in with posts and photographs about all that's been going on! I've done a little fall decorating and tried a new centerpiece for my table...I really like it! And we are (hopefully) going to get new bookcases for our living room to go on either side of the mantel. We NEED more book storage options! My brother-in-law looked at these photos of what style I liked, and is planning to build something similiar ASAP. I'm excited! Hats off to my very kind and talented brother-in-law Chip!
Love that beadboard! Okay, I really do have to go! Take care!
I've been wondering what's been going on with you lately, and what's been keeping you from blogging. I understand the busyness of a mother's days, but will never realize the busyness of YOUR days with six children at home. Bless your heart!! I'll pray for an extra measure of strength for you, and for your sweet little guys to start feeling better soon. 4H would comletely send me over the edge, so again ~ bless your heart!! You're such a good Mommy! Do you give "Good Mommy" lessons? If so, I should sign up! Will you teach me how to make those scrumptious-looking pies? Yum!! I'm excited for you to get new book shelves, too. They are so pretty! You have great taste!! Hope this week slows down for you just a bit so you can really enjoy the wonderful fall season.
Blessings to you today!
~ Leah
Angelica, I'll have to make one for the next family night supper just for you! They are delicious, but I doubled the recipe..and they turned out a little soupy. Pie with a spoon! Next time I'll just do one at a time! LOL Oh, and we'll have coffee with that too! Yum! I got the recipe from the new Taste of the South magazine.
Leah, Thanks so much for your sweet words about the 'good mommy' thing, but believe me, just ask my kids... sometimes they would probably like to ship me out to someone so I can TAKE good mommy lessons! LOL But you DID make me feel good! Thanks! I'll be by soon!
Y'all have a blessed day!
Hugs,
Amy
Happy Fall, Amy!! Those pies look so delicious, perfect for celebrating! We watched our movie yesterday and now we want to watch Anne of Avonlea! We don't own that one yet so we are off to the library this week. :0) I have read several of Mary Engelbriet's decorating books and I love them all. I will be checking the one you mentioned for sure!
I will say a prayer that everyone is your family feels better soon. Have a great week!
Hugs,
Kelli

Happy Autumn, Amy!! Those pies looks scrumptious and are the perfect treat to go with the movie! The book sounds absolutely wonderful ~ I need to put a request in at the library. (Don't you just love libraries?) No suprise I'm sure, I'm a BIG FAN of bead board, too! Can't wait to see your new bookshelves!
