Doesn't this look like a fun project? Here's another version. Growing a sunflower house was something I really wanted to try this year, but with everything that's been happening lately...oh well, maybe next year!
When I was a little girl, I just loved my secret little 'hide-aways'. And who knows? If the children and I do grow a sunflower house next year, I might just sneak inside with a blanket, book, and a glass of iced tea!! LOL Do you think they'll find me?
Doesn't this children's garden at the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park in VA look fun??? I am so inspired...but also VERY tired just thinking of all the work that would be involved!! LOL I do good to keep the grass cut and flowers planted in my window boxes. Oh well...it's nice to dream, isn't it??
Our four-year-old John is a character, and he comes up with some funny stuff! The other day when he had gotten just a little bit out of sorts about something, I said to him, "John, you lost your temper...that's not good." He paused for a minute, gave a little apologetic smile, then said, "That's okay, Mama. I'll find it!" LOL A true 'Art Linkletter' moment!
Hmmm....do you think it's time for Mr. Curly to have another haircut??
Although Chad's hair tends to be on the wavy side, Alexander (Baby #6) is the first of our children to exhibit 'curly hair' tendencies...especially when it's going to rain. Who needs the weather channel?? We just look at Alexander to get the forecast! LOL My mama always wanted to have a curly headed grandbaby--I think she got her wish!
Yep...definitely time for another haircut...especially since I've recently been told I have a pretty little girl!
Because we watch very little prime time television, I had not yet seen Terry Fator, the sensation on America's You've Got Talent until a friend told my husband about him! This man is absolutely unbelievable! He is a ventriloquist who does impressions of other singers including Louis Armstrong, Garth Brooks, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, and Kermit the Frog among others. He's a great singer in his own right, but can you imagine doing impersonations while also doing ventriloquism??? Just watch and be wowed! Pause or turn off my Sonific player on the sidebar. You're in for a treat! And be sure to watch some of his other videos on You Tube as well!
Hallelujah! We just finished printing off and mailing our homeschool group newsletter for February! I thought I'd share Elisabeth's newest installment for The Home's 'Cool' Comic that she does each month...I thought it was sooo cute!
Before I announce the three winners of the Gooseberry Patch Appointment Calendars, I want to say a great big thank you to all my friends who came by and entered my 300th post give-away! I wish to goodness that I had 19 planners so I could give every single one of you a prize! As I've said many times before, I appreciate all my blogging friends and the inspiration and encouragement I receive from each and every one of you! So thank you again...from the bottom of my heart!
Now, on to the three winners. I made number squares 1-19 to correspond with the 19 entries, put them all in a bowl, and these are the numbers that were drawn:
When I matched up the numbers to the comments, here were the winners!
#4 was Rebecca From Renaissance!
#14 was Marybeth from Cheaper By the Half Dozen
#18 was Andrea L.
Congratulations to all three winners! I do sincerely hope that you will enjoy your Gooseberry Patch planners as much as I have!
And on another note...I enjoy give-aways so much that I plan to have another one real soon...just to celebrate the joys and pleasures of the winter season...that's a hint to the type of prize by the way! So if you didn't win this time, you'll have another opportunity before too long!
Thank you again, dear friends, for celebrating my 300th post with me!
For all of us who are fitness 'wannabes'...here's a little Peyton Manning Pep Talk to add a little humor to our day. You'll have to pause or turn off my Sonific Player on the sidebar to hear it. Does the truth hurt, or what??!! LOL
It's been awhile since I posted any of Erin and Elisabeth's stuff on here, so I thought I'd share a few things they've 'created' lately. For any new visitors, Erin and Elisabeth are our 16.5 yo identical twin daughters...and my right (and left) hands! LOL And that's really not far from the truth...they are 'mirror image' identical twins...one is right-handed (Erin) and the other is left-handed (Elisabeth). LOL I don't think I could get by without them...they are such a blessing in our home!
ERIN'S STUFF:
Some special effects photos that she's either taken recently or some of her older ones that she's altered with 'selective coloring'. You may have even seen a few of these here before...but before they were altered:
Happy Splashes
Notice John's dirty little knees! LOL
Remembering Our Veterans (Layered Photo)
Eye On The Marble
Innocence In Overalls
Our sweet little friend, Timothy...or Timbo, for short!
Summer Memories...
Notice the bubbles containing other photos.
ELISABETH'S STUFF:
Below are two paintings that she was 'commissioned' to do for my 'farmer cousin' as a Christmas present from his daughter (who we just found out is expecting twins herself). Elisabeth painted these while referring to actual photographs taken on the farm property:
Peanut Field
Corn Field Overlooking Farm Pond
Elisabeth got an embroidery machine for Christmas and decided to try out her new skill on this bag she made for our little friend, Sara. I thought it turned out really cute!
And last of all, I will include a comic that she drew. Many of you have seen her 'Home's Cool' Comic installments here, but she did this particular 'funny' for another monthly newsletter that she and Erin and another friend publish every couple of months. The 'theme' for this particular issue was football!
If you can't make out the words, it says, "Here's the popcorn boys! Wow, what a great game...plus, we were able to get the best seats!"
My girls have a good time pursuing their interests, and I'm so thankful that they have the opportunity and desire to do these things! Thanks for letting me share!
My good friend Hope sent the following email to me this morning. It was too funny not to share...and I'm sure that you moms with big families can relate! LOL Enjoy! And thanks again, Hope. You provided us with a good laugh this morning!

An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home.
He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep in a corner.
An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back, resumed his position in the hall, and slept for an hour. This continued for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon your dog Comes to my house for a nap." The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar: "He lives in a home with ten children -- he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?"
This is a link to a funny Christmas song that we keep hearing on the Sky FM Christmas station. It will get stuck in your mind...and you'll catch yourself singing it over...and over...and over...and so will your kids. Forewarned is forearmed! LOL
So if you feel a little silly, check out this link and sing along..."I want a hippopotamus for Christmas..."
If you want some hysterical Christmas fun, check out this link at Elf Yourself. But be ready for some side-splitting laughter!! We have had LOTS of fun with this one!
It's been awhile since I posted one of Elisabeth's artistic creations (called The Home's 'Cool' Comic) that she does each month for our homeschool group newsletter, so I thought I'd share this month's installment. Be sure to follow the 'arrows' in each frame. LOL
The idea for this particular comic was mine, but the end result was all Elisabeth's doing! I thought she did a great job.
There's a little story behind this. The first year our homeschool group had a 'Gingerbread Workshop', Ellie was probably about two. She and her buddy, James, sat under the table where the older children were working and 'gleaned' all the dropped candy! It was very funny. James' mom, my dear friend Lori, and I found our little angels sitting there like two little chipmunks...cheeks full of candy...and happy as can be! It really was hilarious!
I've been a fan of Sky FM (online radio) for a couple of years, but I usually keep it tuned to the classical station. However, last year I discovered that Sky FM has a Christmas station that plays Christmas music 24/7. I kept checking back over the last week or two, and it became available the day after Thanksgiving. So if you want a great source for holiday music, tune in here, then click on the Christmas option.
I'm a very happily married pastor's wife, former schoolteacher-turned-homeschool mom of six wonderful blessings, and freelance writer--and we live in the great state of Georgia! I'm a southern girl through and through...but most importantly, I'm a child of the King! We have just finished up our twelfth year of homeschooling, and our two oldest have now graduated! This is my place to record thoughts about homemaking, Classical-Charlotte Mason based homeschooling, writing around the fringes of family life, and more...so welcome to my little corner of the world!
