• Oct. 21, 2008 - Harpin' on Halloween

Well I’ve got this harp recital coming up in a couple of weeks and the theme is Halloween and everybody is supposed to wear a costume. So my Mom and I were trying to think of what I could be. Here are some things I came up with:

1. An emo person

2. 1800’s hoop skirt dress

3. A girl from World War II

4. A witch

And finally Mom thought of the perfect thing: A harp playing pirate. Then I said, “Yeah! And I’ll have a hook too!” I know your probably thinking, “A hook? How are you supposed to play harp with a hook?” Well here’s my plan. I’m going to have a hook that I can slip off my hand. Then when I go up on the stage I’ll take off my hook and throw it on the ground and start playing.

It would be really cool if you could fashion a hook that sits on the back of your hand while you are playing. Then, it may look from the audience like you are playing with the hook. Good luck and have fun with it!

I think that would be cool!
maybe not a hook though it will draw attention away from your performance, you could still wear the hook, but maybe leave it on your seat when you go up.
