Stories of Rush Lover

• Oct. 25, 2009 - Sharpie Vs. Germex

Okay everybody, as you know, I do a lot of weird things, and a lot of weird thing happen to me. Well, this time it was a weird, unfortunate thing that happened to me. Maybe it was one of those serendipitous kinds of things

My friend Chandler and I are at the top of our math class, don’t ask me why, I guess we are just smarter than the rest of the class, or something, I don’t know. Chandler and I usually get done with everything before the rest of the class does, and so we just sit around bored for the whole rest of the period. So I decided that I was going to pass the time by drawing. I got out a piece of paper and a sharpie. I started drawing, and with about ten minutes left to go before the bell rang, I lifted up my paper. Boy! What a mess I saw on my desk! There was this huge puddle of red sharpie juice all over my desk! Just then Chandler and Lexi turn around and see it. “Oh my gosh Maddie, what did you do?!” Chandler exclaimed. So I explained to him what had happened.  He and I start frantically trying to clean off the desk. We spit on it, we scribbled on it with pencil and tried to erase it that way, but nothing worked. The whole time I was thinking to myself, “I’m going to get an after school; my mom’s going to kill me. I won’t be here tomorrow because I’m going to be dead.”

Then Matt, a kid that sits near me, raises his hand for the teacher, because he needed help with his paper. I hurriedly stacked my books on top of the huge red stain on my desk as the teacher came over to help Matt. As this was happening, two precious minutes were wasted that I could have been trying new ways to clean up my desk.

The teacher went back to her desk and I immediately took my books off the stain and started scrubbing away.

With only two minutes to go Emily suggests to me, “Try some Germex, it’ll take off anything.”

“Are you sure?” I asked.

“Just try it, what do you have to lose?” She asked.

I was thinking, “My life, that's what I’ve got to lose, my life.”

Well I tried it, and it worked! The Germex took it right off. I cannot even begin to describe the relief I felt when I saw that it came off.

But there was still a problem. I had this huge puddle of red Germex on my desk. Just then Matt raised his hand again. I quickly set my books on my desk, thinking to myself, “Great, now my books are going to have red stains on them, now I’m really in trouble.”

The teacher came over to help Matt then went back to her desk. I picked up my books and to my surprise my book covers kind of shed the liquid so nothing got on my books.

Then about one minute before the bell Chandler pretended to sneeze and acted like he needed a Kleenex. He grabbed me about six Kleenexes and we got it all cleaned up just before the bell rang.

If I had not gotten it cleaned up I would have confessed to the teacher, but since I got it taken care of, I didn’t see the point.
