I know I'm old and not homeschooling anymore, but we share something in common. Go to my site and scroll down until you see some pictures. Those are my babies. I love horses too.

Jun. 27, 2006 - Sorry it took me awhile

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I'm glad you liked the pictures of my horses. Actually they aren't pintos. They are registered American Paint Horses. That is an actual pedigree where pintos can be in any breed. I could have them registered as pinto which is Spanish for 'painted horse'. A Paint comes from purebred Quarter Horse, Standardbred or Thoroughbred lines with full registration. You can breed a Paint to any of the above breeds as long as both parents have registration papers or you can breed registered Paint to registered Paint. I've done both. Lady is full Paint with her blood lines going back several generations in Paints only. Doc has a Paint mother and Quarter Horse father and Jet is fully Paint. As a side note, our farrier says Doc has mustang in his back ground because his feet are square and that's a mustang trait. Cool huh?

Now, if you've heard of a red roan then you will understand how our horse is pink. A red roan has one white hair placed beside each red hair all over the horse's body. Up close, you can see the different colours but when you stand back, the horse looks pink. It's really funny in Jet because he also has the white spots of a Paint but he has a dark red mane and tail. It really makes him look pink. My daughter loves having a pink horse because he really gets noticed.
