I have no problems with us looking forward to remembering the time that Jesus was born (knowing that he wasn't actually born in December). However, when I go to the shops and see Christmas stuff up, I know they are not getting ready to celebrate Jesus. They are getting ready to make people think about spending far more money than they can.
Many people are miserable at Christmas time. They are not thinking about Jesus, they are thinking about their credit card debt. And those early displays at those stores are partly to blame.

What you said about expecting and anticipating the Lords birthday is true, and everyone loves Christmas, however, I think that when people groan when Christmas decor comes out earlier and earlier every year, it is because that means that all of the crowds that go with Chrismas come out early too.
Crowds mean that it takes longer to get the presents that you still need, the roads and traffic are awful, and so on.
I think that the reason stores come out with Christmas stuff earlier and earlier, it to make you buy more and more. The more you see it as you go about your normal shopping, the more you think that it doesn't look that bad.
That's just my thoughts, good post.

I think we should celebrate Jesus's birth all-year round! But it is pretty sad when all there is for Christmas is snowmen and fat guys in red saying, "hohoho" all the time. And what happened to Saint Nick, the one who started the giving of gifts? I'm pretty sure he wasn't a fat guy in red who lived in the north pole.
I don't really care for cats either, but they're okay....

Christmas decorations in September don't annoy me as much as Hallowen decorations (and then they sometimes forget Thanksgiving). But then, I'm the odd person who plays Christmas carrols in July. :)

Yeah, my family usually rolls our eyes when we see the Christmas decorations out so early. I think the reason we get so disgusted is because it's all about selling things and spending money.
I think you make a good point, though, that there's absolutely nothing wrong with anticipating the celebration of the birth of JESUS that early. It's when we anticipate the coming of presents that early that we make our mistake.
Good post!

I agree with you. I think people forget Christmas is about Jesus... not Santa or Rudolph the Reindeer. I get frustrated sometimes at all the Christmas stuff out early. People want to turn Christmas into a money making holiday... not celebrating what it's really about...

I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I play Christmas music all year long. But I too agree that so many people just lose the perspective of what it is all about.....the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ!
Blessings to all!
