You're Not Shaken
I am sinking in a river that is raging
I am drowning, will I ever rise to breathe again
I want to know why I just want to understand
Will I ever know why
How could this be from Your hand
When every little thing that I have dreamed would be
Just slips away like water through my hand
And when it seems the walls of my belief are crashing down
Like they're all made of sand
I won't let go of You now, because I know You're not shaken
I'm trembling in the darkness of my own fear
All the questions with no answers still grip me while
I'm here And I may never know why I may not understand
But I will lift up my eyes And trust this is Your plan
When I am in the valley of the shadow of death
You're not shaken, You're not shaken
You're right here beside me and
You have never left
You're not shaken, You're not shaken
I really love this song by Phil Stacey! It is such a great reminder that we arent in controll of our lives, the one who gave us life is. A couple of weeks ago I was having a conversation with someone I babysitt for. I asked her if she wanted to have boys first and then a girl. She said that she did have a desire to have a little girl, but even though she had that desire God put a bigger desire in her heart for the little boy growing inside of her. But then she said, "after having two boys, when I found out I was pregnant again I really wanted a girl and instead of begging God and pleading Him that this child was a girl, I asked God that he would change the desires of my heart to allign with the plans He has for me." I have never thought of it that way before, we need to let go of our desires and dreams and let God change them into what He has planned for our lives! Jeremiah 29:11 reads: For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. It is so amazing that our God gives us insurance and hope that He has it all in control and planned out. Another one of my favorite verses is Jeremiah 1:5 which says: I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.

I wanted to start "The Weekly Gazette" so I could share weekly whats been going on in my life. I will be posting each Saturday!
Scripture:
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! -Phill. 4:4
Whats God Been Up To?:
Well next weekend I will be going to a leadership retreat for my youth group. It is one night and cost $25. I normally get most of my money from babysitting, which I havent been able to do in a while as I have been sick. The money for the retreat was due on Sunday and I was going to pay my youth leader when I got my wallet which had the money in it back from a friend. Well my friend actually ended up going out of town. So I explained to them what happened and they said it was fine. So I really wasnt sure where I was going to get the money to pay for it for. (unless I asked my parents) So I prayed and read scripture and let it go and reassured myself that God is a God of provision and love. So this morning my neighbor came over and asked if I could watch his kids for a while. Well I have more money than I need for the trip. Now this may seem like a little thing and that $25 shouldnt seem like a big deal, but for some reason I kept on worrying about it. Well God is so good in all He does, the BIG and the small.

Saving Money:
I bought 2 mini picture frames for a total of 50 cents, along with a cute basket and plant for $1.25, and a hummingbird nicknack for 75 cents. I really love them.
At The House:
I have recently been blessed with my own room. My oldest brother Nathaniel got married last month and then moved about 6 hours away. So my sister Emily who was sharing a room with me now has her own room. I have been able to organize and decorate and make it my own. I havent repainted yet, but I am planning on doing that sometime soon!

Happy Birthday Emily
This past Saturday, my sister Emily Victoria turned 13.

I started the day by waking up early and making a birthday banner and blowing up balloons to hang on the kitchen wall.

Then my dad made us all breakfast. Which was yummy!!! Emily opened her gifts after breakfast.

Then we went to see Night At The Museum 2 at Cinema Cafe. It was fun, we ate pizza at the theater. The movie was great and so was the food. Since Emy got a Rack Room Shoes gift card we went there after the movie and she bought two pairs of Converse'.

Later on after we got home she made her cake, as it is tradition in our family to make ur own b-day cake! Her cake was chocolate with homemade vanilla glaze. It is so good.... : )

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMILY! I love you sista!!!!!!! : )

M-Fuge 2009!!!
Hey Everyone...sry it has taken me so long to put this entry together i have been sick (which i will tell you about at the end of my entry!). So I went to Greenville, South Carolina this past week with a group of awesome amazing people i am glad to call my friends. We went to a missions camp called M-Fuge. Which is like a camp and missions trip all in one! So my adventure started last Monday the 27th when i had to get up at 5 am and go to the church where i would meet with the group. We had 19 people going and took 2 minivans and a suburban...cramped spaces!! so we left around like 6:45 am and had 8 hours of traveling ahead of us. The car trip was so much fun. We listened to music made crazy signs to hold out the windows at the other cars (u will see what i mean in the slide-show), and well slept. When we got to our destination, which was North Greenville University we singed in and picked the top 3 ministry tracks we wanted to do. I choose 1. Children, 2. Social, 3. Creative. Then we went to our "suites"....ha ha ok dorms. Since it was a college M-Fuge was using, there were 2 beds in each room, 2 desk, 2 closets and a sink and then we shared a bathroom with an adjoining room. It was nice! : ) For the sake of my keyboard and your time I wont go through each day at camp. I was put in childrens ministry with one person from my church. There were like 26 people all together in my ministry group. Each day we would have group bible study and then we would prepare/ get stuff ready to go out each day and minster to children. Our leader from M-Fuge who had been leading this ministry group has been taking teams to this playground/ apartment complex area for 4 weeks now. So the kids pretty much know Brooke, who was the leader, and are excited about hangin out with us. The week went great. We did face painting, crafts, bible stories, games...all kinds of stuff. I met this one girl who was really sweet. Her name was Teresa. She was 8 and 1/2, she just had to get the 1/2 when i asked her! She was just so smart and had such a sure and smart attitude. Well I think that is pretty much what I did. There were alot of kids in other groups who accepted Chirst that week. Nobody at our site did. But I know that we planted seeds and that God is going to grow them and bless the children. So my friends Kim and Victoria were sick on the car ride home from M-Fuge. We all thought that they were just car sick. Well Kim got sicker and so the next day when she got home she went to the doctor and was tested positive with Swine Flu. So our leaders told us all to go the doctors just to make sure. So it was crazy my mom made appt. for both my sister and I to go. They said that my mom would have to go get us mask to wear into the office and then when we got inside they escorted us straight into a room and we were seen right away. Well I tested positive with Swine Flu and Emy didnt but we both got perscribed med. and then we went home. So i am still not 100% but im doing better. I put a pic. of me in the mask at the end of the slideshow...it makes me look like a duck...ha ha! Well thats all...enjoy!

Happy 4th & History of The Flag

Hey,Hope yall are having a blessed 4th of July. Last night my family went to our city park where our church had there yearly 4th of July Celebration. It was fun we had food and played frisbee and there were fireworks. Our neigborhood does a parade every 4th of July, which we went and thats it so far.
So I thought it would be cool to share some histroy of the flag, so here ya go!
On January 1, 1776, the Continental Army was reorganized in accordance with a Congressional resolution which placed American forces under George Washington's control. On that New Year's Day the Continental Army was laying siege to Boston which had been taken over by the British Army. Washington ordered the Grand Union flag hoisted above his base at Prospect Hill. It had 13 alternate red and white stripes and the British Union Jack in the upper left-hand corner (the canton).
In May of 1776, Betsy Ross reported that she sewed the first American flag.
On June 14, 1777, in order to establish an official flag for the new nation, the Continental Congress passed the first Flag Act: "Resolved, That the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation."
Between 1777 and 1960, Congress passed several acts that changed the shape, design and arrangement of the flag and allowed for additional stars and stripes to be added to reflect the admission of each new state.
- Act of January 13, 1794 - provided for 15 stripes and 15 stars after May 1795.
- Act of April 4, 1818 - provided for 13 stripes and one star for each state, to be added to the flag on the 4th of July following the admission of each new state, signed by President Monroe.
- Executive Order of President Taft dated June 24, 1912 - established proportions of the flag and provided for arrangement of the stars in six horizontal rows of eight each, a single point of each star to be upward.
- Executive Order of President Eisenhower dated January 3, 1959 - provided for the arrangement of the stars in seven rows of seven stars each, staggered horizontally and vertically.
- Executive Order of President Eisenhower dated August 21, 1959 - provided for the arrangement of the stars in nine rows of stars staggered horizontally and eleven rows of stars staggered vertically.
Today the flag consists of thirteen horizontal stripes, seven red alternating with 6 white. The stripes represent the original 13 colonies, the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well: Red symbolizes Hardiness and Valor, White symbolizes Purity and Innocence and Blue represents Vigilance, Perseverance and Justice.
I got this info off of: http://www.usa-flag-site.org/history.shtml and if you would like to check out some stuff about Besty Ross you can go here: http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/
Blessings,
Naomi

have to read!
|
A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects. When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists." "Why do you say that?" asked the customer. "Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people?
Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things." The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt. The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber:
"You know what? Barbers do not exist." "How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!" "No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside." Ah, but barbers DO exist! That's what happens when people do not come to me." "Exactly!" affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! That's what happens when people do not go to Him and don't look to Him for help. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world." BE BLESSED & BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS !!!!!!! |

romans 5:3-5
i dont remember when i came across this scripture...but i absolutely LUV it! it just really speaks to me personally cause over the past couple of years my family has been through alot and the more hardships that come our way...blessings always follow doubling whatever we need. when i was younger i used to wonder why in the Bible and even then why God would let His people suffer, but the more i have come to know Him and the more I seek Him each day I realize as the scripture says below ("for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation" ) that each hardship and trial we go through will strengthen us. i can remeber when my daddy was going through hip replacements a few years ago. it was so hard for me cause when the doctors first diagnosed him with AVN before his surgerys they told him that he would never be able to walk and he would be in a whell chair the rest of his life...well my daddy doesnt use wheel chair or a walker or a cain...he walks! we prayed for God to heal him and we let go through the time we didnt know why God put in our path and he made something amazing out of it! so dont give up if ur struggelin with something or going through a rough time right now just let it all go and give it to God...well i just wanted to encourage you through this awesome scripture!!!!! : )
"We too can rejoice when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love." Romans 5:3-5

and my bro Joshua gave me a gift card for Lowes...not cause thats my fav. store or anything (though it is pretty cool), but because i am going to be redoing and repainting my room this fall and i also got a really pretty homemade photo box with two photo booklet things from my sista Emily...then ashley, my sis and i watched sense and sensibilty, which i must say is an amazing movie! i've watched it like a million times. so the next day we went to church and my oldest brother Nathaniel, his soon to be wife (yipee) Courtney and Courtney's cousin Brittany all got baptized, awesome huh. AND Courtney's brother Micheal excepted Christ! So Sunday was a great day...then Monday was my actual b-day...and today i got 2 more gift's from the art museum, which were beautiful glass necklases, i will post some pictures of them soon! so here is a slideshow i made w/ a whole bunch of pictures from this past weekend...
oky...so thats it
