P.S. Yes that is a swiffer duster under the end of the bed. It's a good place to keep it because, after all, there is a lof of dust there! The sad thing is it is still there, and I took those pics a few weeks ago. I have no idea how long it was there before that.............in my defense I do use the dusting attachment on the vac fairly often.

We have sweet husbands, don't we. Mine is finishing up "phase 1", as he calls it, of my laundry room. A much bigger space that I can also keep my extra frig in, and has a laundry sink and folding table. "Phase 2" is a pantry where the washer and dryer used to be.
Did you find any use of any of the info in my email?
Have a good weekend!

Wow! What a wonderful gift! What is on the wall behind the bed? Rocks? Wood?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about sending your children to college over at Home Where They Belong.

We missed you at baseball today.
Of course I think that is a gorgeous bed. How fun looking it is.. what a beautiful haven to find rest on. I need a bed, and a couch but I am settling for a cabin this year.. oh I also need an outdoor potty.... my dh is working on it.
God is so good to give us such wonderful husbands.
Blessings,
Maria

The walls are logs. It is called a cordwood house. It's built sort of like a woodpile, but with concrete in between. The logs go all the way through the walls, so you see one end of the log on the inside and the other on the outside. The walls are 16 inches thick. 4 inches of concrete on the inside, 4 on the outside the inner 8 inches are stuffed with sawdust for insulation. There is a great website with a lot of pics and info called www.daycreek.com. Click on cordwood.
We first read about it in a book on alternative housebuilding methods. They said inexperienced builders could build it, and that is what we were, and are still ")!! We had this crazy idea that if we could read a book about it we could do it...........took us six years, and we did but with a lot of hard lessons.
