And she learned nothing!
Tonight on the phone my husband asked my
daughter what she had learned this week in homeschooling. Her
answer was nothing. WHAT!??? So I spent all that time for
her to think we did nothing! I started to ask her some questions about
some of the activites we did. What about those birds that fell
out of the nest? Yes, and they must have been robins because they
make nests out of mud and the rain must have washed away the
nest. The mockingbird babies? They have multiple nests and
their nests are close to the ground and the babies run around on the
ground while the moms still feed them.
Next she was able to do a narration of Tree in the Trail. At this
point she started to giggle and get red because she realized that she
really had learned quite a bit.
I guess I am going to have to teach my husband how to ask better questions :-)

My kids have done the same :) I guess we can be happy that the learning is so organic that they don't even realize they are doing it ~ but sometimes I have wanted to pull my hair out all the same! Especially in the beginning I wanted to prove to my husband that they were in fact learning...but after awhile the fruits of it all just start to show up. I am so glad that you are having fun and feeling at peace with homeschooling. I have the same night time issue (it's 10:40 now and everyone else is asleep, and I've only just begun to blog!)
Have a good week :)

I am a single parent and my ex rings each week and asks the same question, each week there is the same silence from my children, till lately he has stopped asking them, and now they are saying how come dad never asks what we do for schoolwork. Can't win really, they are learning LOTS but can never remember when put on the spot. KIDS eh. Love your blog, we are fairly new to homeschooling and blogging so loving reading what other people do with there day.
