Preliminary ReportPosted at 9:07 PM on Dec. 19, 2006
Time sure flies, unless one is awaiting a verdict! :-)

My doctor called about 8:30 last night—she was still at the office, bless her heart! The lengthy delay was not typical for her, which caused us to wonder a bit; but, the reason was her thoroughness in her care of me and that is typical of her—she is truly wonderful, and I am very grateful to her! After a lengthy discussion, her preliminary report was optimistic. The reason she had not called us sooner was that not only did she want to go over the report with the radiologist who read my MRI, but she also met with and examined the films with two other radiologists as well. I won't bore you with the details, but it seems that what is there is a mystery to four doctors, to date. Leave it to me to have something "unusual." *wink* It is not typical for a number of possibilities and they are not quite sure what it is. They do know that it is in a place that cannot be biopsied, and that it is smaller on the MRI than it was on the ultrasound the week before. That, too, was a puzzle to them, but bodes well for a better outcome. My doctor is attempting to meet with a fourth radiologist this week (whom she has tremendous confidence in for his experience with things that fall outside the norm) and get his opinion of the "mass." The consensus of the first three was: we don't know what it is; there is only one of them; it is getting smaller; and, quote, "it is probably nothing"—my doctor said this with strong emphasis on the probably. And, that it should be rechecked in six months—to which my doctor said that seemed too long to her and we won't wait that long. I also have my follow-up appointment with the oncologist this Friday and she is also eager to hear his opinion of the matter. I just received excellent news preceeding this appointment that my CA-125 tumor marker is "6," and that, too, bodes well for this investigation. So, there are still no clear conclusions, but it does not seem as ominous as it first appeared. I am eternally grateful to you all as you have cared and have prayed for our family as we await news of this mystery. The Lord continues to hold us in His remarkable peace. As I shared with a dear friend this morning, we know this is all part of God's plan and He never makes mistakes. I believe I am in very good hands and very Good Hands, come what may. We anticipate with great joy the celebration of our Lord's birth and are so grateful for the gift that Child brought to His children. We wish you abundant joy and blessings! <- Last Page | Next Page -> |

Report
I am praising the Lord for the thoroughness of your doctor. It is truly something to be thankful for. Makes the waiting almost worth the wait, eh? (wink)
Good to hear that the preliminary report looks optimistic so far. May the Lord allow it to be so.
Many blessings of joy and sweet contentment to you and yours this Christmas!
Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year!
Love & prayers,
T.G.
