The Lord is Faithful...

Posted in Prayers of Praise

Heavenly Father ~

Before I begin my day, I wanted to thank you for all you have done and are doing.

Thank you, Lord, that you are Faithful when I am not.

("... the Lord is faithful..." ~ 1 Thessalonians 3:3)

Thank you, Lord, for your promises.

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee,

and shew thee great and mighty things,

which thou knowest not." ~ Jeremiah 33:3

Thank you for continually showing me Your Great and Mighty things.

Praise in Prayer...

Posted in Prayers of Praise

Oh, Lord,

You have heard my prayers and pleading and have worked (and still are working) in the heart of my child. She sought me out last night, Lord, to tell me what you had laid on her heart and what she was excited about...

She whole-heartedly wants to dedicate her youth to You.

The spiritual maturity I heard coming from her mouth surprised me.

She does not want to waste her youth with the cares of this temporal earth.

She desires to be Heavenly minded and wants to serve You while she is young, single, and ever-so-able. She wants to focus on You and You alone.

Help her, Lord. Protect her, Lord. Enable her, Lord.

Help me, Lord to guide her in the way of righteousness.

Thank you, Lord, for this and for the many unspoken answers to prayer.

~ In Jesus' Wonderful Name

          Amen

Praying Portions of Timothy for My Teen...

Posted in Prayer Closet

Lord ~

You brought me to 2 Timothy and laid upon my heart to pray some things for my children, particularly my teen daughter right now...

~ I pray, Lord, that she/they would purge earthly and fleshly desires and be a

"a vessel unto honour, sanctified {seperated}, and meet for the Master's use

and prepared unto every good work." (2 Timothy 2:21 KJV)

~ I pray, Lord, that she/they would flee {turn and run from}

"...youthful lusts {desires, wants} but follow reighteousness, faith, charity, peace..."

and "call on the Lord out of a pure heart." (2 Timothy 2:22 KJV)

~ I pray, Lord, that she/they would "shun {ignore and not accept or tolerate}

profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness." (2 Timothy 2:16)

~ I pray, Lord, that she/they would flee {turn and run from}

the love of money, materialism, self, and pleasure and

"...follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness."

          (1 Timothy 6:11 KJV)

I ask these things in Jesus' precious name ~

          Amen

Torn as Paul...

Heavenly Father ~

I can see evidence that your Holy Spirit is working in this eldest child.

She has openly admitted that she is torn. She feels she is being pulled in different directions.

You just brought a Scripture to mind, Lord, that I will share with her tomorrow.

Even Paul had these struggles with his flesh:

"For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I." ~ Romans 7:15

"For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do." ~  Romans 7:19

Oh, how easy it is, Lord, to not do the good we ought to be doing.

And how easy it is to do the evil, which we hate and wish not to do.

Thank you for the encouragement in Your Word.

Thank you for sharing with me that Paul, too, struggled greatly.

Thank you for giving Your solutions...

"I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin." ~ Romans 7:25

The secret lies in our minds... our determination, our intentions, our consciences...

How do we find determination in our minds?

By changing our way of thinking.

How do we change our way of thinking?

By learning God's way of thinking.

How do we learn God's way of thinking?

In His preserved Holy Word. Memorizing, memorizing, and meditating on it.

Allowing it to change and renew our minds and way of thinking.

Lord, help me to renew my committment to memorizing Your Holy Word.

Help me to begin, again, to memorize it with the children.

Give me opportunities, Lord, to discuss the portions we memorize.

Give me wisdom, Lord, in applying Your Word.

Oh, Lord, thank you for all you are doing in her heart... and in mine.

~ In Jesus' precious name ~

          Amen

Giving Liberally... What I can and need to do...

~ Lift each child up in prayer. Daily. Faithfully.

~ Pray Scripture over the children.

~ Memorize Scripture Together.

~ Be in God's Word daily.

~ Be in God's Word with them daily.

~ Sing and learn of hymns together.

~ Get a routine and DO IT. They and I have too much unstructured free time.

~ Do a Bible Study with the older children individually (maybe 1x a week).

~ Write them letters/notes of love, encouragement, and prayer.

~ Cross-stitch them a special verse/poem and frame it.

~ Take a daily walk with them or at least go outside and play something.

~ Teach them a hobby/handcraft and participate with them.

~ Stop what I am doing and really listen to them. Look at them.

I would want the same respect from them.

~ Play board games, etc... with them.

~ Practice and obtain a meek and quiet spirit (especially in my tone).

~ Stop pursuing my own selfish interests/duties (computer, house work, phone, reading, etc...) and work with them and be with them. Pursue them. Then perhaps they will be less inclined to pursue their own selves and interests. They do follow by example after all.

Thank you for your promise, Lord, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,

that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." ~ James 1:5

Thank you, Lord, for laying these things on my heart.

I know that it is no coincidence that all most all of them involve

spending quantity AND quality time with them.

Forgive me of my own selfishness, Lord. Help me not to justify it.

Help me, Lord, to follow through with what You would have me to do.

I pray in Jesus' Wonderful name ~

          Amen

Lacking Wisdom, Lord...

Lord ~

I am desperate and know not what to do.

How is it, Lord, that I do not have my child's heart?

How is it that she loves herself, her desires, and the world more than she loves You?

I struggle, Lord, with living in regrets of "I should have done this" or "If only I had done that."

Forgive me, Lord, for not doing all I could do.

Forgive me for fooling myself into thinking that I was doing what I should when, indeed, I wasn't.

Please show me, Lord, where exactly I have gone wrong. What do I do now?

What can I do differently with the other children as they are still young?

Help me, Lord. Show me.

You promise in Your Word "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,

that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." ~ James 1:5

I claim that promise, Lord.

As I sit here in prayer and meditation, I pray You will bring to my mind what I need to do

and by Your grace, Lord, help me to do it.

In Jesus' precious name ~

          Amen

I surrender...

Lord ~

Please forgive me where I have failed as a mother.

Forgive me, Lord, of my bad attitudes, my lack of a meek and quiet spirit,

my lack of being consistent in truly training the children You have entrusted to me.

Forgive where I have failed You and them..

Sometimes I feel so alone, Lord. Sometimes I feel that I am barely holding my head up.

I know that I am not alone, though.

I know that You are my Rock, Refuge, Fortress, Comfortor, Stronghold, and more.

I submit and surrender myself to You.

I realize that parenting the way You would have me to do is beyond my human abilities.

I need You to help me, Lord.

I need Your strength and patience. Teach me to love the way You love.

Help me, Lord, to demonstrate Your love to these precious children.

Help me to walk in righteousness.

Help me to have wisdom, guidance, and discernment.

I pray the fruit of Your Holy Spirit will be evident in me and that I will be a godly role model.

Equip me, Lord, with the communication, teaching, and nurturing skills that I need.

Mold me into the parent You want me to be.

Help me to raise and teach them according to Your perfect will.

Teach me, Lord, how to pray and intercede for my children.

I pray that their hearts would be softened towards You and Your ways.

I pray, Lord, that each one of them will love you and seek You with their whole hearts, and I.

In Jesus' precious name ~

     Amen
