On Friday we got a call that my uncle had a massive heart attack, and didn't make it. It turned our world upside down for awhile. Going to be with family, and dealing with the sorrow, but joy of knowing he is in heaven.
These past few days have been hard, but I have been able to face them and move on. We will never forget Uncle Darrell, and his ever present smile. His famous laugh, his jokes, his stories, they will remain in our hearts forever. Though we mourn, we also rejoice. We'll see Uncle Darrell again, and until then, we will continue on down here. Please keep praying for his immediate family. (wife and four children the youngest being 18)
At age 55... why did he have to die? We don't know the answer to that question, but we do know that God is in control of our lives. He knows how long each of us have. What we do know is that Uncle Darrell loved our Lord Jesus with all his heart, and knew what it meant to be a child of God.
One particular passage from the Bible that the family shared during the memorial service was Romans 8:38-39. "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
We have the faith that Uncle Darrell is in heaven, waiting for us to one day join him. Praise God that we have the promise that we will never walk alone in this world. Again, it brings me back to all of you, and all of my amazing family and friends. During the past few days I have given one thousand or more hugs to loved ones. We all gather together, grieving and crying, but also laughing, sharing memories, and enjoying one another's company.
So until the day when we see you again, Uncle Darrell, we love you and you are greatly missed. |
