The Joyful Journey

26 December 2007

Out with the Old, In with the New!

Christmas Day was a good day....a fun, relaxing day.  We opened gifts, sat by the fire, and had a nice dinner together with a small number of family members.  We spent the evening eating cookies and drinking coffee with about 35 of my husband's family members...not at MY house, thankfully!!

I'm not sure what it is about December 26th, but I always wake up feeling a strong need to clean!  And believe me, that's not a normal thing for me...just ask my husband!  Maybe it's the end of another year fast approaching...maybe it's all the new "booty" without a home in my cluttered house. Whatever it is, December 26th always feels like a new beginning waiting to be unleashed.

The day dawned cold and clear.  A clean slate.  No school to do, no gifts to buy, no gifts to wrap, no cookies to bake, and miraculously, nothing to return.  In short...NOTHING to do.

So I took advantage of the opportunity and today became a day of "out with the old and in with the new!"

Goodbye to BAGS of old clothes.
(New rule...if you haven't worn it in 5 years, it's gotta go!)

Hello to more drawer and closet space for the new clothes!
(Is it just me or is this closet shrinking?)

Goodbye to mountains of dirty laundry.
(Well, I guess it doesn't really go away...still a mountain...just clean!)

Goodbye to a BUNCH of old toys.
(Another new rule...if it's missing more than two pieces, it's outa here!)

Hello to a more organized toy shelf!
(That should last for about 6 hours!)

Goodbye to a boring old blogging template.
(I've been itching to do this since about 5 days after I started blogging!)

Hello to a new improved, personalized template!!
(The picture was taken from my front porch in New Hampshire...oh how I miss the beautiful snow in New Hampshire!)

It's been a very productive day!  I should do this more often!

Yup--that is our feeling towards it--although I had to go out today the kids and I are starting in on the decorations and clutter tomorrow. :)

I am glad you had a good Christmas. :)

Love the new template! I wish I was savvy like that. And I cleaned too...and did laundry. Ugh.

More productive than me! I wake up with that urge too...well it hits me as soon as the last present is opened. They toys found homes, the laundry is almost done...I think I need to adopt the broken toys rule and get rid of a closet full of old stuff though..Happy Holidays

RYC: As I said I've loved that movie since I was little. It is really cute. Plus it is based in england which is always neat. ;)
