Home School in the Woods..... A day in the life of a Pakrat... | 3 entries, 24 comments | | Listed in Unit Studies | | Hi! I'm Amy Pak and welcome to our woods. Yes, we are truly pakrats (are there ANY homeschool families that aren't?) but what we strive to store that is most dear to our hearts, where moth and rust cannot destroy, is love, loyalty, faith, comradery, virtue, and devotion.
...and the occasional books we find at a yard sale... (O.K., moths could wreak havoc with those, but we wouldn't be true homeschoolers without them. ....hundreds of them... no, thousands of them...>sigh<)
Between homeschooling and running our business (Home School in the Woods) our days can be an eclectic, hectic, wacky mix of very loud, Latin people. You'd think with the last name "Pak" we'd be Korean (and reserved and quiet), but no! My husband is from Argentina, complete with the passionate bloodline in spades. With three boys and one quiet girl (must be my Irish side that snuck in those genes) and their father leading the Pak ;-) the music can get crazy, the conversations lengthy, and the headaches surmounting. Sometimes I think they get into "noise-fests" just to see who can be the loudest! And get the Latin grandparents into the mix and I have to re-adjust pictures on the wall afterwards. It's a good thing we live out in the country where we can enjoy life at any decibel. And I wouldn't have it any other way. (...as long as I can have my earplugs and Advil.)
Yet, with all that, creativity abounds in this "pak-'o-people" and the homeschool life only feeds that fire! What a joy to see the children increase in their giftings, their closeness with Jesus, pursue desires, take off with new interests, and all while still in their p.j.s! ...just kidding...they're usually dressed by noon. ;-)
Well, there's a peek into our family. Won't you come join us and get to know us better? And comment so we may get to know you! |
