This is our 3rd year homeschooling- hadn't planned to homeschool and now that I have, I wish I always had ! We started very unexpectedly- pulled our son our of private Christian school one month into 6th grade and began homeschooling totally unprepared. Sounds scary- but really, I was so upset over the school situation, I didn't have time to be scared. I compare it to the "mom who lifted the car off of her child." I just jumped in and did what I needed to do. It was quite an adventure, lots of late nights reading "how to books." But it just takes trying things, being open to dropping what isn't working, really "getting to know your kid" and what their style is and that only comes by spending time with them. We are very eclectic, using the best of what works for us ! A little bit of this and a little of that and hopefully the result is a lifestyle of learning, a whole lot of fun and a incredible family bond.
