Do you know your shoes don't match?

Do you know they are on the wrong feet as well?

Her first sled ride

Her birthday dress that she didn't get to wear till Mom's birthday.
The twirl, all girl

Just sweet

Not all ribbons and bows....

At the beach, check out the sandals, picked out by herself at our local thrift store.
Easter

Summer
Been farming long
Just one of the boys
Lets go shopping
Her bed room all decorated

A real sledding adventure, her first

Look Who's 2

Posted in Kids Antics

Are you two today?
Me two.

I made cupcakes and let the kids decorate them.
THe 7yo thought this was a great project.

Cupcakes all decorated, time to blow out the candles.  Ummm, guys, that's fire."
"You lit the cupcakes on fire, are you crazy."  If you were around on 4th of July or New Years you would understand her concern.
"I'll try blowing but this is really crazy."  The 4yo blew them out though so we re-lite them.
But she would have nothing more to do with it.
"Here she is informing us that the cupcakes are on fire and fire is a very dangerous thing and nothing to be played around with."

"I am not eating that, that thing was on fire.  Are you crazy?"
"Hey, I'll eat it.  Give it to me.  Come on just a little closer."
And the birthday girl gets pillows piled on top of her.

Last weekend we watched Treasures in the Snow.  The little boy in the movie had a little kitten that he played with.  The 3yo has decided that he wants a kitten now.  This was the age that the 6yo decided that he wanted a dog so in the same way I asked the 3yo what he was going to name his kitten.  His reply was "REX."  He thinks REX should also have stripes!

How do they come up with these things?!

Building Tents

Posted in Kids Antics

Sorry, but I was sick the past couple of days, Sinus headache, not fun!!

This past weekend the boys were building a tent out of blankets.  The 6yo came and informed me that thier tent had air conditioning, , he then pointed to the vent in the floor and said their tent one of those.

A true contractors son, yes, his tent had heating and air.

Also, if you are looking for a good Christain Nature magazine check out www.naturefriendmagazine.com. It is a toss up which one I like better, A Big BackYard or Nature Friend but since Nature Friend has new editors, they are putting a lot more pictures in it which is making it more appealing to younger children.

Blessings

Posted in Kids Antics

As I was coming around the corner of my ketchen I ran into the 3yo holding is underware running to put it away.  He said one word, "Un - der- ware."  He quickly ran back to the closet and put it away.

I never asked him and I had actually folded it yesterday and it had been sitting there since then.  I hadn't had the chance to tell them to put it away yet.

They also have been a huge blessing getting ready for dinner tonight and Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.  They have been stabbing sweet potatoes with forks, mixing jell-o, crushing prtezels for crusts and graham crackers,  grating oranges and whatever else I can find for busy boys to do.

"I Learned Momma"

Posted in Kids Antics

A couple weeks ago we made oatmeal and got it on the table.  Colter (5) proceeded to get it dished out and started pouring in the milk.  I have been using powder milk lately and keep it in a pitcher.  As he was pouring the milk in the bowls the lid came off and, well........you know what happened next.  There are lots of spilling accidents at our house and I try not to make a huge deal about them but this time, a full pitcher of milk!!  Aaaagh!  I left the room to keep from screaming.  Colter got it all cleaned up and the kids proceeded to eat their oatmeal.

A couple of days later, the exact same scenario played out, only this time Colter kept his hand over the lid. When he was all done he looked at me and said "See Momma, I learned!"  Yes, he had!!  And so did I.  I need to make light of all accidents because they are only learning experiences.

Overly smart two year old

Posted in Kids Antics

While I was at the Women's of Faith conference in Spokane I bought my boys some shirts that say "God's mighty warriors".  When I got them out, my two year old was all excited to get his.  He put it on and ran around the house.  After a few minutes he looked down and said, "A Star".  HuH!?!  How did he know this?

The next day we were sitting on the couch looking at "My Big BackYard" magazine and he pointed to a picture and said "A Heart".  HuH!?!  How did he know this?

Yesterday, as I was trying to get my blog going, he came up to me with two fingures up and said "Two Dogs."  Huh?  Now I am not sure what he meant by this but....he then asked me for a piece of candy.  I told him no, of course.  Then he proceeded to tell me he needed to go stinky so off we rushed to the toilet.  Now, this would be great, we have only been working on potty training for a year now and it just doesn't seem to be clicking in his little head.  But, you see, I just recently started rewarding him with a piece of candy after he goes to the bathroom, hopeing to give him some incentive.  Incentive it has!!  After he was done, he didn't ask for just one piece of candy but two.  Thinking he really didn't know what two pieces of candy were I only gave him one.  And he proceeded to ask me for the second one.  I handed it over, not wanting to defeat him in the potty training matter, and he joyfully went on his way.

Now how did he get so smart.
