So I am on day nine I think. All of them have run together. We start between 5-8am which means we catch a shuttle from 4 to 7 am. Classes include lectures, powerpoint presentations, written tests, and announcements. The days typically end around 2 - 4pm, which means we get back to our hotel around 3 - 5pm. Very long days!
Tuesday ~ Day One
We started with introductions, filling out paperwork, giving pre-taxi announcement, and learning about the company.
Wednesday ~ Day Two
I don't remember.
Thursday ~ Day Three
I think this day we did uniform fittings, and appearance compliance.
Friday ~ Day Four
Today, we threw out emergency doors, learned how to open the main cabin doors, and the galley service doors, on our planes.
Saturday ~ Day Five
Today we did our thirty seater plane. We checked all the emergency equipment, figured out where it all is, and we have three different versions of this plane, and everything is in different places.
Sunday ~ Day Six
We got on one of our planes our fifty seater plane. We checked all the emergency equipment and preflighted everything.
Monday ~ Day Seven
Day off! We relaxed, studied by the pool, I got sunburnt a little bit. Who thought September would be hot ~ oh yeah I'm in the desert!
Tuesday ~ Day Eight!!!
We survived a week. Our class of forty-five has not gotten any smaller. We all passed our test this afternoon, which was about our second to last plane. We had to do all the emergency equipment and preflight it again. If anybody has any questions about the lingo let me know. That is it for now!!!
Wednesday ~ Day Nine!
HAZMAT Day! FIRE Day! Today we after lecture, we ran out of a smoke filled plane! I did great! My seat mate, Shanon, and I with another class mate sat in two seats! The plane we were on is called the EMB 120 sits 30 people, we fit 45 plus one instructor. We shut the blinds, lights off, and smoke filled the cabin. I had counted the seats on the way in, pulled my shirt over my mouth and nose, grabbed Shanon's hand and led her out, counting the seats, she grabbed someone else's hand and we all got out! It was fun! Then we put out a fire! I now understand why all the people I care about who are firefighters do their job. It was a rush! Here is a picture ~ this is not me, but some of my class mates!
Thursday ~ Day Ten!
Today we just did all the rules and regulations! Boring! I got one hundred percent on my test!!!
