Dec. 26, 2007 - quiet time..
I have just begun a study in the book "Keep a Quiet Heart" by Elisabeth Elliot. This book is a compilation of articles she has written over her years of sending out weekly newsletters. These are wonderful gems of wisdom to help me grow closer to the Lord in my quest for a quiet and meek spirit. I have also continued my reading of the proverbs, now up to proverbs 9, and I am so enjoying the indepth study of these wonderfully penned words. I can see the wisdom of God in each and every verse like I haven't been able to previously and I am truly blessed by this study.
I am also continuing to build my scripture journal which I will share on this blog shortly.
I hope everyone has had a blessed Christmas holiday filled with family and friends. ~Selah

Hi,
I love the book of Proverbs. In fact, I wrote a whole series of devotions just from Proverbs 31. You can find it at http://hometown.aol.com/srmiller1988/proverbs31devotionals.html I am also re-doing those devotions to make it into an actual curriculum for a Sunday school class I teach. I'm almost finished with it. I will start teaching it the first Sunday in March.
Proverbs became my favorite book of the bible when I was a new mom. I didn't have a lot of time to read the Bible at that time, so I would read one Proverb until one or two verses "clicked" with my spirit. I'd write them down and meditate on them until I had them deep in my spirit. Then I'd pick up the book again and look for 2 more verses, etc. Before I knew it, I had a LOT of wisdom filling my heart. It has been a priceless treasure, indeed! |
