Wednesday, July 11, 2007 - Story of the World Reading List
We used the popular Story of the World for 2 years. The kids really enjoyed this series. Along with the coloring pages and map work in the activity books, there are other reading suggestions. At the beginning of each chapter there are corresponding pages that can be read from the Usborne Book of World History, the Usborne Internet Linked Encyclopedia of World History, the Kingfisher Illustrated History of the World, and the Kingfisher History Encyclopedia. I would assign the kids to read the pages associated with that day’s chapter and to write in their history notebooks something new that they learned from that day’s reading. To make assigning the reading pages easier, I made these lists. I hope that they can add ease to your planning.
If you are not familiar with the Story of the World series, you can view samples of book 1 at Well Trained Mind and book 2 at Peace Hill Press.
Whether you use the Usborne Internet Linked Encyclopedia of World History or not you can go to their website using the list as a reference, and find some really interesting things to enhance your studies.
On a side note, while looking for sites for you to check out Story of the World, I stumbled across this sample of First Language Lessons for the Well Trained Mind Level 3. Thought it was interesting.

Thanks for posting these links. I am using SOTW in conjection with Sonlight's world history this year. I am new to it, so I will definitely be perusing your lists.
