Posted in Just a Thought

It has been crazy busy here at our house.  Between school, work, Scouts and just living there hardly seems to be a second left unspent.  But it is good.  A long time ago I received an e-mail that puts everything into perspective.  I’m not sure who wrote this (if it was you, let me know so I can give you credit) but I saved it from way back in 2000.

I am thankful:
For the Teenager who is not doing dishes but is watching TV,
Because that means he is at home and not on the streets.

For the taxes that I pay,
Because that means I am employed.

For the mess to clean after a party,
Because it means that I have been surrounded by friends.

For the clothes that fit a little too snug,
Because it means that I have enough to eat.

For my shadow that watches me work,
Because it means I am out in the sunshine.

For the Lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing,
Because it means I have a home.

For all the complaining I hear about the government,
Because it means I have freedom of speech.

For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot,
Because it means I am capable of walking and that I have been blessed with transportation.

For my huge heating bill,
Because it means that I am warm.

For the lady behind me in church who sings off key,
Because it means I can hear.

For the pile of laundry and ironing,
Because it means I have clothes to wear.

For the weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day,
Because it means I have been capable of working hard.

For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours,
Because it means I am alive.

And finally for too much e-mail,
Because it means I have friends that are thinking of me.

I am sure we could all add a bunch more to this list without much effort, but here are a few of mine.

For the frustrating math problems I have with my children,
Because it means I can teach them.

For the science experiments gone wrong,
Because it provides an opportunity to explore.

For the never ending list of things to do,
Because I will never be bored.

For never seeming to have a minute alone,
Because it means that I am surrounded by those who love me.

For everything that the day brings,
Because I am able to give Glory to God for it.

What would you add to this list?
