Monday, August 31, 2009 - September 2009 Writing Prompts Calendar

Wow, I can't believe how many times the August Writing Prompts Calendar was downloaded; 371 times. I sure wish that folks who do download these calendars would leave me some feedback. I don't mind sharing them, but it sure would be nice to know how they are being used and your thoughts. Out of 371 downloads only 4 folks left a comment. I know I have some regulars who are always kind with their words but I really would love to hear from you others. Anyways, here is this month's calendar.

I posted one message but I am going to post another one. I LOVE your writing prompts and have been looking every day for September's! My kids seem to enjoy having the different ideas to write about as well (although they in general don't like to do writing). And did I mention that I LOVE your prompts?? Thanks for what you do :) Michele

I LOVE your writing prompts! This year we are using Tapestry of Grace and their writing program because my kids are jr/sr high and need a more formal writing curriculum, but I am still going to use your writing prompts for conversation starters, journaling ideas, "I'm bored" activities, etc.

I appreciate your comments alot. I'm sorry if I made you all feel like I was scolding. I know several of you come back monthly and have let me know your thoughts. I was just wondering about those other 200 plus or so.

Anyways, enjoy.

We just began our school year a couple of weeks ago and began to use your calendar of writing prompts. We heard about them through Molly of Econobusters. Thank you for providing this resource. I appreciate the creativity and variety of prompts and my kids have liked using them. I've even used some of them just to spark my creativity in writing. I'm glad to have this free resource available. I had looked for something like this before but hadn't been able to find it.

You know I use your writing prompts. I use them within our homeschool group co-op which I organize. I do not use all of them each month but pick out my favorites and assign them. There are so many great ones this time that stuck out to me, I'm having trouble choosing a few. Thanks again!!

I like these writing prompts, my son is just a beginner writer and I look forward to using these with him! I have a small idea, I thought maybe you could put your website/blog address on the calendar somewhere. So if anyone forgets where they got it from they can refer back to the calendar, like I always seem to do,

My boys hate to write, but I LOVE these calendars. I pick a few for them to do. But I've started to do all of them myself. It feels great to challenge myself to think and write about a specific topic. Thank you!!!

I just downloaded September's writing prompt calendar. I've never seen these before. What a good idea! And there's a useful variety in the prompts, something for everybody, I think. Thank you for sharing! I especially liked the 5 sentence verb-exchange idea, and am going to try it with my students. (I help a missionary homeschooling mom by giving a few of her kids writing classes.)

Thank you for a wonderful selection for writing ideas. My 3rd and 8th graders are just beginning a journal. My son, 13, doesn't particularly like to write, but is very creative. I'm hoping such a wide variety of topics will help him tap into the potential I see in him. At least it will be a fun way to begin - again - the process of expressing himself. My daughter, 8, on the other hand loves - I mean - LOVES, to write. So this an exciting find! Thanks to you and to Molly for sending me this way!

I am one of the guilty ones who downloaded last month & didn't leave a comment (heard about it from Econobusters). I printed it off & looked at it over several days. I was going to come back & leave a comment once we had used it, but didn't. My kids are too young to use it as a writing prompts, but I thought it might be interesting to use as a discussion starter. Alas, most of them didn't apply, but it was interesting to see your work. I am going to print out Sept's too & I appreciate you sharing your work with others--to give us creative ideas!

I was directed to your calendar from Econobusters website. I have not seen anything like this and am really looking forward to having my third grader use it. She loves to write. Maybe you could include more history about Christian leaders as interest points. You don't have to be Catholic to know who Joan of Arc is and write about her. Thanks again for sharing your talent.

What a wonderful ideal to spend five minutes a day. This ideal is inspiring as to what else can be learned in five minutes a day. And what a great service to offer for free. I am glad I found your site and look forward to continue using your calendars in our homeschool. Keep up the good work and know that you are appreciated.

I found these writing prompts calendars through another link near the beginning of August, and downloaded a number of older ones at that time as well. My daughter has a great imagination, but does not like to put those words on paper; this is just what we needed to get her started. This is my first visit back to the web page since we started, therefore the first chance I have had to say "thanks for the great materials and ideas!!"
