Thursday, May 8, 2008 - What Kind of Sandwich are You?

| You Are a Grilled Cheese Sandwich |
![]() In your opinion, the best things in life are free, easy, and fun. You totally go with the flow. And you enjoy every minute of it! Your best friend: The Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Your mortal enemy: The Ham Sandwich |

Monday, April 28, 2008 - What Type of Fruit are You?
Here's another silly blog thing that I found interesting. This one more closely describes how I might see myself, except for the thick skin part. My folks might get a kick out of me trying to find my inner fruit. What type of fruit are you?
| You Are an Orange |
![]() You have a unique take on the world, and you're not afraid to be a little funky. You are a bit reserved toward people who don't know you well. You have a thick skin, which can protect you from anything that goes wrong in your life. Once someone does get to know you, they totally get and appreciate you. Your friends see you as a bright person with a refreshing take on life. |

Thursday, March 27, 2008 - Tag 5
I was tagged by my4sweetums.
You already know so much about me from the other tags, but it’s been a while so I thought I’d participate.
(If you haven’t read the other 7 tags I’ve done and want to know more, check these out: Blog 50-Tagged, Tagged Again, Tagged, Yet Again, Tag 4, Historical Tag, 10 Question Tag, Scategories Tag)
5 random facts about myself:
- All three of my children were delivered by midwives and the last two by the same midwife. I never even saw an OB/GYN for any of my pregnancies.
- I wore glasses for a few years when I was younger, then I didn’t need them anymore. Now that age has set in, I can’t read a thing without my drug store glasses.
- I never was big on make up and didn’t wear it until a few years ago. Now I wear it for church on Sunday (occasionally) and for special occasions.
- I hate to be late, but with children it seems inevitable.
- When we built our first home over 20 years ago, I was the ‘contractor’, even though I had never done it before.
5 weird things about myself:
I don’t know if these will count as weird but some may think so.
- I don’t like ketchup, mustard or hotdogs.
- I never had problems with pimples. Never had any until I had children. My children have not been so lucky.
- I am prone to spontaneous singing and dancing. Drives my kids crazy.
- I tend to strike up conversations with just about anyone, anywhere.
- I drive my husband crazy when I answer the questions from quiz shows before they finish asking them.
5 things on my desk
What isn’t on my desk?
- notes
- pens and pencils
- a container of pretzels
- pictures of the family
- a mess
5 of your best friends:
- Jesus
- My husband
- Mom
- Dad
- My children
I’m suppose to tag 5 people, but don’t feel obligated.

Tuesday, March 18, 2008 - Name the States
I saw this on Heidi's blog and I couldn't resist. I had the hardest time remembering Kansas and then I kept messing up on the spelling trying to type too fast. This really was fun, you really have to try it. Heidi always finds the coolest things. After you're done playing, be sure to go to her blog. There are still a few more days to enter her awesome spring give-away.

Monday, January 28, 2008 - Scattergories Tag
My dear friend Kellie Ann tagged me last week during my computer melt down. I wasn’t sure if I should use my given name, Virginia, or my nickname. I enjoy word games, so I decided to do both, but will only tag for my nickname. I don’t think I could find enough people who haven’t been tagged yet for both. I’ve never played Scattergories, but this was fun.
Use the first letter of your name and find words with that letter. The number of letters in your name determines how many people you can tag.
What is your name? Ginny
4-letter word: gift
Vehicle: golf cart
City: Greenville
Boy’s name: Gary
Girl’s name: Genevieve
Movie: Glory
Occupation: graphic designer
Something you wear: all I can think of is girdle, but I don't wear one. I don't believe in torture.
Celebrity: Greta Garbo (do they have to be living?)
Food: grapes
Something found in a kitchen: goodies
Something found in a bathroom: grime (I'm sad to report)
Reason for being late: Got Googling 'G' words.
Cartoon character: Garfield
Something you shout: Goodness Gracious!
Animal: groundhog and gopher
Body part: I was going to say gray hair, but I'll go with gallbladder.
Word to describe you: I thought about groovy, but didn't want to date myself so openly, so I'll be bland and use good. (sometimes)
***************
Here's my given name:
What is your name? Virginia
4-letter word: VOTE
Vehicle: Volvo Van
City: Vallay Forge
Boy’s name: Vincent
Girl’s name: Victoria
Movie: Vertigo
Occupation: Veterinarian
Something you wear: Vest
Celebrity: Vince Vaughn
Food: Veal
Something found in a kitchen: Vegetables
Something found in a bathroom: Vitamins and Vaseline
Reason for being late: Vast varities of vices
Cartoon character: Velma (Jinkees!)
Something you shout: Victory!
Animal: Vulture
Body part: (I had to hunt this one down; remember this is a family site) vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, and vastus intermedius (basically your thigh muscles)
Word to describe you: Victorius (through Christ)
Now for my victims, ah, I mean, the people I tagged.
Kristie at Welcome to Our Hive
If you would like to do this tag, be my guest. Let me know if you have done it so I can stop by and check out your answers.

Monday, January 14, 2008 - The Ultimate Bible Quiz
I'm dipping into my 'reserve file' for posts. We've been so busy and have another full day today. I may have to rethink my blogging time to be able to add relevant posts. But thought this one was cool too. I know, I know, another 100%, but this one was pretty easy. I don't really know the Bible 100%, just about the things they asked. There is always something new to learn when reading God's Word. How did you do?
Wow! You are awesome! You are a true Biblical scholar, not just a hearer but a personal reader! The books, the characters, the events, the verses - you know it all! You are fantastic!

We have this board game and enjoy the show, so when I saw this little quiz, I had to take it. I was so relieved to know that I was indeed 'Smarter than a Fifth Grader'. My kids would be brutal with me if I wasn't.
You are smarter than a fifth grader. no doubt. There is no need for you to retake school. Keep on doing your brain excersise like sudokus and crossword puzzles, and you'll soon be smarter than a sixth grader! Good work!

Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - What Kind of Reader are You?
Found this to be a bit interesting. Never considered myself a book snob or an obsessive-compulsive (at least not about books). Wonder what my mom's score would be because she reads more than anyone I know.
| What Kind of Reader Are You?
Your Result: Literate Good Citizen
You read to inform or entertain yourself, but you're not nerdy about it. You've read most major classics (in school) and you have a favorite genre or two. |

Monday, December 10, 2007 - Christmas Meme
I saw this on someone else’s blog (wish I could rember whose) and thought it would be a good one to share. Feel free to grab. I’m using this for the Homeschool Kids Write Blog also, so if you want it without the answers swing by there to get it. While your there check out some of the kids’ blog entries. Not to many right now, but everyone is busy with holiday prep.
Wrapping paper or gift bags? both
Real or artificial tree? artificial
When do you put up the tree? Usually about a week before Christmas.
When do you take it down? We used to take it down on New Year’s Day, but since my daughter is a New Year’s baby, we take it down the day before so her day is all her own.
Angel or star on the top of your tree? We have an angle on top of the tree.
White lights or colored lights on the tree? We use colored lights on the tree, but various other kinds of lights are scattered through out the inside and outside of the house.
Blinking lights or solid glow? Most of the time blinking.
What are some of your favorite ornaments? My favorites are the ones that my children have made for us over the years. I also really love a small plastic star that was part of a set my folks had when I was a little girl. I’m pretty sure it is the last of the set.
Do your decorations follow a holiday theme? Sure does. I call it Down Home Modge Podge Eclectic of Anything that Strikes our Fancy.
Do you have a Nativity scene? There are many Nativity scenes set up through out the house and outside.
Favorite gift received as a child? I think I’ll have to say my baby doll that I wrote about here.
When do you start Christmas shopping? It varies from year to year depending on finances and sales.
Have you ever shopped the night before Christmas? Unfortunately, yes, for stocking stuffers.
Have you ever recycled a Christmas gift? No
Hardest person to buy for? My husband’s mom
Easiest person to buy for? My daughter
Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I can’t really say that I ever received a bad gift, but a few years ago my husband and I didn’t exchange gifts and that was kind of hard.
Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Day? Traditionally, the kids open one package that has their new PJ’s in them the night before and the restof the gifts on Christmas morning. My oldest still comes to the house Christmas Eve to participate in this tradition. If you look on my side bar in the ‘About Me’ section, the pictures of the kids in their PJs at Christmas are usually taken on Christmas Eve.
Mail or e-mail cards? Always mail because we send out an annual newsletter.
Favorite Christmas movie? ‘A Christmas Carol’ with Patrick Stewart.
Favorite Christmas song? I love all Christmas songs, but my favorite is ‘Carol of the Bells’.
Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? When I can get my hands on some, divinity fudge.
Travel for Christmas or stay home? We mostly stay home and my folks, who live very close come by in the morning to watch the kids open their gifts.
Most annoying thing about this time of year? The emphasis on material things and not spiritual things.
What do you love most about Christmas? I love almost everything about it, especially celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior.
Can you name all of “Santa’s” reindeer? Sure can. Can you?

Friday, August 17, 2007 - 10 Question Tag
2girlsand2boys at the Butterfly School nabbed me for this one.
Rules:
You must answer the questions accurately, and no whimping out! You must tag 5 other people.
1. What is your favorite bible verse? There are so many verses that I keep close to my heart, but the one that gives me the most encouragement is Isaiah 40:31 They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up on wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
2. What season of the year is your favorite? Why? My favorite season of the year is autumn. The temperatures are cool but not cold and I love how the world seems to be painted with the leaves changing colors.
3. Do you think home schooling will continue to grow? I believe that home schooling will continue to grow as more parents realize that they are not forced to accept anything less than the best. As people grow more and more dissatisfied with the educations their children are receiving, I think they will take back control of their children’s lives and step out in faith.
4. List 4 people that have most influenced your life. There have been many people who influenced my life, but none as much as my Mom and Dad. My 6th grade science teacher, Mr. Stergious, directed me to step out of my comfort zone and taught me to not settle for anything less than my best. My husband changed my life and gives me confidence that I can do whatever I set my mind to.
5. What is your favorite non-biblical quote? Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.
6. Silk, satin, or cotton? Not sure the relevance, but I guess cotton.
7. If you like chocolate, what is your favorite? Not much of a chocolate eater, but I do like white chocolate.
8. If you could sit at dinner with 5 people, who would they be? Most definitely Jesus. (Got a lot of questions I would love to know the answer to) The others would probably be people who have gone on to be with Him before me, my best friends Brenda and Teresa, my Memere and my husband’s grandmother, Nanie.
9. What is your favorite author? There are so many, but I think I can safely say that I have always enjoyed Charles Dickens.
10. Who will you tag? I have no idea. Who ever reads this all the way through, consider yourself tagged.
