Tuesday, November 13, 2007 - Card to Our Soldiers
Save the stamp. I received an e-mail the other day that so many may have already received. It read:
In anticipation of the coming season I felt this was a suggestion worth passing along:
When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to this address:
(The address given here)
If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these people who have sacrificed so much would get.
I thought this would be an great idea for the kids to get involved with, but upon further investigation I found the following information:
One of the results of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 is that the U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail addressed to "Any Service Member," "A Recovering American Soldier," or any similar generic addressee. This is to protect our American servicemen and women. According to a statement dated November 8, 2007, the Walter Reed Army Medical Center will not accept such mail at its facility (though mail addressed to specific individuals will still go through).
Please go to the Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital website to read the full statement.
If you are interested in sending a card or letter to a service member check out this page at America Supports You for an extensive list of ways to show your appreciation. And as always keep our brave men and women who serve our country and their families in your thoughts and prayers every day.

Saturday, September 29, 2007 - Donate a Free Mammogram
I don't usually post on Saturdays, but a dear friend of mine sent this e-mail to me and I wanted to get it out ASAP. She is very active in promoting Breast Cancer awareness. Her sister is a survivor. Our family lost my husband's sister about 3 years ago and this cause addresses her issue specifically. Not having insurance stops many women from early detection, but this site helps provide free mammograms. It costs you nothing but a few seconds of your time.
This is the e-mail she sent me:
A favor to ask, it only takes a minute....
Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window in the middle).
This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors /advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.
Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.
Please take a few seconds and stop by this site to help. Thank-you.

Thursday, May 10, 2007 - Third Option Homeschoolers in SC
Calling all South Carolinian Homeschoolers
This may be of interest to Homeschoolers in South Carolina. Check out Homeschool Nations-South Carolina 's blog. The South Carolina General assembly currently has a bill in review that would change the required information necessary under the ‘third option’ law for homeschoolers. Anyone who is under this option should read the proposed bill and its changes then voice their opinions with their representatives. More information can be found at the HSLDA- Homeschool Legal Defense Association.
