Oct. 24, 2008 - Friday Show & Tell -- Great books to read!

I am reading a couple of fantastic books right now!  I just had to share them with you gals because they have been such insightful, refreshing books.

The first one is Lessons from a Venetian Vinedresser.  I have always loved reading John 15 where it talks about Jesus being the vine.  This book helps you to better understand the word-pictures Jesus was painting with His illustration of the vine.  Very insightful book!

The other book is The Power of Femininity.  I got this book for a quarter at the library's annual sale.  I must say this is the best quarter I have ever spent!  It is so rich and informative that I am highlighting things on every single page.  Though I have read several books on the differences between men and women, this book is really eye-opening!  She goes back to the Garden of Eden and sheds some insightful light on what really happened that day.  I highly recommend this book.  It really is a must-read!  I'm seeing things about myself that I didn't realize, and now the Vinedresser can prune those things so that I can bear more fruit.

Normally, when I am done reading a book, I get rid of it because our home just isn't large enough to keep all of the books I read.  However, I plan to keep both of these books because they are just fantastic!  If you click on the pictures of the books, it will take you to a website where you can find the best deals on the books.

A side note here:  I discovered yesterday evening that the ps are out today, so dd and I are taking the day off too.  (Doing the happy dance here!)    It's been a very rough couple of weeks with hs'ing so BOTH of us could use the break.

I've been on a big decluttering and cleaning kick too, so if I still have any energy left tomorrow, perhaps I can tackle even more.    (Mary, I'll be posting next week about what I accomplished today.)

I may have to look into that one.
It reminds me of the Philip Keller books, a Shepherd looks at the 23rd Psalm ect.

One never knows the treasures that lie in the cast-off library books! Although I'm more a fiction reader than non-fiction, I have come across some great deals that have been "just for me."
