Jan. 1, 2009 - Thankful Thursday and S&T Friday

http://www.eph2810.com/  and http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/Canadagirl/
I am combining my entries for the above days.

My thankful list this week:
1. Bff is home from having her heart transplant!  She has now developed diabetes and high blood pressure though.  She is also very jittery, as a result of the anti-rejection drugs.
2. My pastor's son is now at the top of the list for his own heart transplant.
3. Much laughter over the holidays.  It really does do a heart good!
4. Seeing some results of a longtime prayer.  The end result hasn't manifested yet, but I know God is moving in this situation.
5. Some great buys I found the day after Christmas.  I have at least 75% of my shopping done for next year.  (I am still cutting back even from what I spent this year since we don't know what will happen with the economy.)
6. Finding time to write 8 devotions this week.  That was precious to me since I've not had the time to do any writing for several months.
7. For a few days of warmer weather.  It was so warm one day that I could leave the attic stairs down while I took all the Christmas decorations down, preparing them for storage for another year.
8. A New Year!  I am looking forward to seeing what God has in plan for us this year.  Though outwardly, things look very bleak, inwardly, I have hope because I serve the God Who is much bigger than any mountains I see in front of me.
May you have a blessed and joyous New Year!
This week's devotion:  Resolutions

Anytime we have a break from school, I start thinking of things I can do to stay as organized as possible.  In the last couple of days, I have:
1. Bought groceries
2. Bought a new mop and mopped the kitchen and bathroom floors
3. Made homemade body sugar scrub
4. Made fabric softener
5. Made cappuccino mix and toffee coffee mix
6. Made granola bars, as well as a second batch of granola (see my Tuesday post for the recipe)
7. Took an inventory of the meat in the freezers
8. Planned my menu through the 3rd week of February
9. Started looking for a job
10. Returned library materials
11. Dropped off items to the Salvation Army Thrift Store
12. Plus dd and I have been working on her computer science class, trying to get some of it completed so that we don't have as heavy of a load once Christmas break is over.
FYI -- All of the recipes I mentioned above are on my blog.  Check the Tightwad Tuesday category and the Recipes category for more details.

Wow! I'm impressed! You make your own fabric softener and body scrub? I need those recipes.

You sound like an amazing woman who got a lot of things accomplished.

I love breaks from school for that very reason. I get a chance to focus on one item at a time and get reorganized.
God is so very good. It is good to list our blessings.

wowie wow wow. What a busy girl you have been. So much going on in your lives. And you've already bought presents for next year? We went a different route. We decided on NO presents exchanged (for the adults). My oh my, what a stress-free Christmas this was. The boys got only 2 presents each and the grandkids a couple of books each. It was so much fun to do other things.

Stopped by from Grace Alone. I really enjoyed your Thankful list but I was especially inspired by what you have accomplished! Meals planned through the 1st week in Feburary?? That's inspiring.

Those are all things to be thankful for. I love #6 (I think that was the one) about being able to write out 8 devotions. I just love to keep a written journal of my devotions.
