Sep. 18, 2009 - Spending time in the Word
In Sunday school, we had a substitute covering for Pastor K. He asked us if we believe everything we read in newspapers/magazines.
Next, he asked us if we believe everything we hear on tv (mainly the news).
Then he followed that question with "Do you believe everything in God's Word?"
Finally, he asked, "How much time do you spend in the Word, which you do believe, compared to how much time you spend reading the paper and watching tv, which you don't fully believe?" Ouch! That one really convicted those of us attending the class. You could hear the audible, "ouch" coming from the mouths of several of us, myself included. (We need an icon stepping on toes.) :D

We are doing a study this year Understanding the Bible Bibical Survey by Cindy Zeigler. It has put us in the word as a family and really helped to increase the amount of time we spend studying the word. I think it is also helping us to believe everything we are reading in the bible in a way that we can apply it to our daily lives and our witness to others.
Your new furbabie is adorable!!!!

Yes OUCH is a good way to discribe it. I don't watch tv and read news papers but I am guilty of blogging and crafting more than I am in the word. Trying to change that.

You are right! I don't read much news, but sometimes I do get carried away with blogging, like Canada Girl.
Thank you for the reminder, and have a great Sunday.
