Sep. 21, 2009 - Funny from work
I said, "I don't think you are here for a problem with your scr*tum."
My patient sure got a laugh out of it. She couldn't wait to get home and tell her dh what happened.

It's funny what kind of diagnosis will show up if you are just one number off from the correct diagnosis. (And it was the doctor's error, not mine.)

On a side note -- what a day! It seemed like only 90 minutes had passed from the time I had lunch to when it was time to go home. Very busy, but enjoyable day. And even better that time flew.

Nov. 22, 2008 - New Contest
There is a contest taking place on the blog in the link below. I am posting it here for others who may be interested in it. Please click on the link below to be taken to the blog where the contest is taking place. (Just to clarify -- it is not a contest I am running.)
Open House and Giveaway
In honor of my new bloggy home, I am hosting a giveaway. I have recently read some great books and will pass them on to you, my faithful readers, if you enter in the comments below. I have The Note by Angela Hunt, Truth Teller by Angela Hunt, and My Heart's at Home by Jill Savage.
Here is how the giveaway will work:
Points will be awarded for the following:
5 entries for leaving me a comment here
3 entries for subscribing to my feed
3 entries for letting me know how you found my blog (Were you my friend before, are you a family member, did you read about me on someone else's blog?)
3 entries if you pass on the word by sharing this giveaway on your blog and linking back here
On Wednesday, November 26 (which is my birthday by the way), I will enter your name as many times as you have earned and have one of my lovely children randomly draw three names. If you'd like to have a specific book, let me know that in your comment. Otherwise, I will randomly determine what book each winner receives.
Doesn't this sound like fun? So, enter and tell your friends. If you are my family members who read and don't comment (you know who you are), this should draw you out of the woodwork.

Feb. 2, 2008 - I've been tagged three times.
I've been tagged three times this week, but since my back was really bothering me, I haven't been able to sit at the computer long enough to respond. Those who tagged me are:
Marilyn's tag rules state that I'd have to describe myself, using the letters of my middle name. Since my middle name has 3 "E"s in it, I will opt to go with the rules posted by Homeschooling in the Kingdom. (It is early in the morning, so perhaps my brain can muddle through that one!)
The rules are:
List 7 things about myself, then tag 7 other people. Also, list the seven people you are tagging.
1. When I met my husband, his mother worked at a bank. So did I. His mother sang at church and later at the nursing homes. So did I. My husband has 3 brothers and no sisters. So do I.
2. I graduated from high school in three years.
3. I have been attacked by a pit bull.
I ended up writing a devotion about it, putting a spiritual application to it.
4. I am half Polish and very proud of it!
In fact, my dad's nickname is "Polock" or "Pole" for short. If I needed to call him at the factory when I was a child, they didn't know who I meant if I asked for him by his real name!
5. I saw Ronald Reagan when I was a junior in high school. He was campaigning to be President, and happened to come to my town.
6. I have kept in touch with my third grade teacher all these years. She even came from another state to attend my wedding.
7. My highest paying job was at the phone company, but my favorite job was when I worked at the hospital. My boss at the hospital used to be a priest. He married a lady who used to be a nun!
I am tagging:

Jan. 31, 2008 - What kind of flower are you?
You Are a Carnation
You tend to be more traditional than trendy.
Your confidence gets you through anything.
People trust you and are very loyal to you.
Mine fit me to a T! LOL! I always told dh that if he bought me flowers, at least buy the kind that will last several days. CARNATIONS!

Jan. 26, 2008 - What does your name mean?
Here is my info:
| What Stacy Means |
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know. You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do. You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life. You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home. You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble. You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection. You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive. You have the classic "Type A" personality. You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily. You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind. A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable. You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in. You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising. You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care. |
Some of the things are right, but some are WAY off the mark! Like "most comfortable when away from home." Not me at all! DH is constantly calling me a homey because I prefer to be at home. That is a real work of the Lord because I used to want to be on the go all the time. Thankfully, after having my dd, the Lord helped me learn to be a "Keeper at Home."
"You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection." Not me at all! I am so-not-a-perfectionist. Just ask dh.
"You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in." LOL! DD is one who LOVES lists. She tried to get me to make a list of exactly how long we spend on every subject because she wanted to use it every day. I quickly told her, "You may make a list of every subject, but you cannot pin me down with a time-frame on every subject because I cannot be THAT structured! It would make me
and
at the same time." IOW = CRAZY!!!!!!

Jan. 26, 2008 - "I did the best I could."
Mom and I were having a conversation yesterday about some things that happened in our family during the teen years. My mother was very naive about some things and openly admits it. Her typical phrase is "I did the best I could." Then she added, "I wanted to give you kids Dick and Jane's life. I tried to be like their parents."
I was cracking up by this time, and dd was cuddling up near me, taking in this whole conversation. At this point, while still laughing, I replied, "Mom, they weren't real! Their dog didn't even poop in the yard! All he did was run, Spot, run!" :D At this point, not only were Mom and I cracking up, but I could feel dd shaking because she was laughing so hard, yet not making a sound. It was pretty funny -- much more funny if you could have been there and seen it take place.
