We have a confirmed case of swine flu in our state. I wanted to share with you one of the suggestions from our our state health department:

Since I am a bit of a germ-o-phobe, I will be more than happy to comply with their suggestion!

May. 13, 2008 - Wordless Wednesday - Baby cardinals
Dh found cardinal eggs in a bush out back. They hatched less than 24 hours before I took these pictures.
This is what happened when I moved the branch to get a better view:
This one just cracked me up! It was like the bird was saying, "MOMMY!Where is my food????"
This groundhog was hiding under dh's equipment on our patio when we came home one day last week:

May. 6, 2008 - Wordless Wednesday - No cast!
Notice that dd doesn't have her cast now! It was removed last week.
Our friendly squirrel refuses to eat the sunflower seeds if we pour them out for her. She insists on eating right out of the bag!

Apr. 23, 2008 - Wordless Wednesday - When You've Been Wronged
My back is out of whack for the fourth day now. I am still in extreme pain. I'm not getting much done, other than lying down with the ice pack. 
I wanted to recommend a book to you:
I was deeply wounded recently by a close family member. I can honestly say that I did nothing to trigger their hateful words. I followed up a couple of days later, trying to bring a peace to the situation, only to leave with deeper, gaping wounds. This happened over a month ago, and I am just beginning to see some healing take place in my own heart, though the relationship has not healed at all.
This book shed a LOT of light on the situation. It has helped me to process more of what God desires from me in the situation, especially since it is clear the other person (and a Christian), refuses to apologize for their behavior. This book has helped me choose forgiveness, even though I may never hear an "I'm sorry" from the other person. I highly recommend it if you are struggling with anger and bitterness due to hurts inflicted upon you by someone else.

Apr. 15, 2008 - Wordless Wednesday - update on dd's cast
DD was supposed to get her cast off Tuesday, but it didn't happen. She re-injured it over the weekend. The doctor explained that one break was at the side of the arm. The other break went lengthwise down her arm, and that break is not completely healed. She has two more weeks to go. Since she thought she might get it off today, she had fun posing for a few pictures.
After finding out the cast wasn't coming off, her first question to me was, "Mom, since I still have my cast, does that mean I can't spend the night with M on Friday?" 
Of course she can spend the night with her friend.

Mar. 19, 2008 - Wordless Wednesday
Here is a picture of dd with her new cast:
Kind of hard to hide it, don't you think? It is BRIGHT pink!
She'll wear it for 4 weeks. She is so thankful that it will be off before her yearly testing. She was very concerned that a cast would hinder her ability to do as well on timed tests.
We had nasty storms roll through last night and knock out the power. We usually start school at 8:00, but this morning, I didn't even wake up until 7:40! 
So, right off the bat, I'm starting out my day, trying to play catch-up.

Mar. 5, 2008 - Wordless Wednesday - Our ice storm
We had really strange weather here yesterday -- ice storm, sleet, freezing rain, snow. Here are a couple of photos from the sleet and ice storm that hit our area on Tuesday. The first one is a view from our front porch. It was very crunchy when walking on the grass.
You can tell the ice is getting thick by looking at Sammy's paw prints.
This is our tame squirrel. He had been standing up against the door, trying to peek in the window. He is so tame, he will let you hand-feed him, even while several kids are running around the yard!
