A Glimpse Into Our Homeschooling Life ...

~~And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.~~ Isaiah 54:13, KJV ~~

About Me:

This is a place for me to write about what we are doing in our homeschooling. I may add more than just homeschooling stuff, but for the most part ..... this is a glimpse into our homeschooling life.

Quick Update
Well, it has been a while since I have updated this blog - so, let's see ..... what exactly have we been up to??????
  • the kids and I have been sharing a cold/flu with each other (aren't we always teaching our kids that it is good to share???? rofl)
  • visiting with friends & family members
  • helping out friends & family members
  • now that some of the snow is melting from our yard, outside work has started
  • hired the kids to do various jobs around the home
  • date night for Don and I
  • friends of Josh and Charlotte sleeping over
  • working
And throughout all of this, the kids have been doing their schoolwork.  This month we have assigned an essay to the kids - they are allowed to choose the topic and they must use our resource books that we have here (encyclopedia's, Golden Treasury of Knowledge books, etc).  Every school day, they work on it - after they have finished a page in their English Smart workbooks.  It is due at the end of the month and it will be handed in to our facilitator as their final writing sample.  Both Don and I are very happy with how it is going for the kids, Charlotte chose to write about Pompeii and Josh originally chose crocodiles but changed his mind last week and switched to Pirates - it is amazing the things that they are learning on their chosen topics.  They are really getting into all the research and planning things out for this project .... I often have to remind them that it is time for lunch, lol.

I had found a resource called "What Exactly Is An Essay?" (at least I think that's what it is called) and it breaks down the steps on how to write an essay - the only thing that it didn't have was the Bibliography information ... this wasn't a problem, though, because a friend of mine had shared a copy (what all is included in a Bibliography) with our online homeschool group - so the kids are using that, as well.
