Lauren Turned 9 Today!
Happy Birthday to my Precious Girl!  I can't believe my firstborn turned 9 years old today.  We're having a party for her on Saturday, complete with crafts, running through the sprinkler, and a BBQ.  Oh!  And don't forget the CAKE!

We had a mini-party for her today.  She opened her gifts from us, we enjoyed a slice (or two) of cake, and ordered pizza.  She informed me that she wasn't going to do school on her birthday, but we put in a full day of school anyway.  I reminded her that she was the snack leader today, and it was her responsibility to make sure we had cake and lemonade for snack time.  LOL  FYI: I let the kids alternate days where they're the "leader" for the school day.  Their leadership roles are to open our school morning with a prayer, hold the flag while we all recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and help prepare/serve a mid-morning snack.  They love it, and it's made the transition from private school to homeschool much easier.

She also made a list of games she wanted to play tonight after supper.  Our first game was to toss a ball to each other, recite Matthew 19:14, then toss the ball to the next person. We now know by heart that Jesus wants the little children to come to Him, and that the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.    We also played two rounds of Snap.  One of Lauren's gifts was a deck of Princess Snap cards from Usborne books.  Matthew won both rounds!  It helped that Mommy whispered loudly to him, "Yell Snap!" whenever there was a match.  And it also helped that Thomas wasn't feeling his best tonight, so he wasn't quite as fast as normal.  I think he is having sympathy pains for me, retroactively from 9 years ago, when I was in the worst childbirth pain EVER!  LOL

I am so glad that God sent Lauren to be my daughter.  We've had quite a lot of fun the past 9 years.  It just seems like yesterday that she was my newborn, and now today she is turning into a beautiful young lady.  Thomas made me cry last night (okay, I think it was mostly PMS hormones) when he said, "We've already had Lauren for half the time we'll get to raise her.  It's our job to see to it that she gets the best we have to offer."   He's right.  Before long, the teen years will be here.  There will be even more temptations than there are now.  I just pray for wisdom as we help shape her into a woman who loves the Lord.

As I was getting our infant, Ian, ready for bed last night I was reminded of this thought.  Even though Lauren will be an adult in 9 short years, I'll still have a child in the house another 18 years~God willing!  Of course, I am quite aware that only God knows the number of our days.  Because of this, I choose to celebrate each day with my kids (even days that I feel like a crazy-freak of a Mama.)  I don't ever want to regret missing a precious moment with any of my babies.  And yes, Lauren, no matter how old you get~you'll always be Mom's baby.  I love you Precious Girl!

Blessings to all of you in Bloggerland.
