A Fun Birthday Party and "Ucky Boogies"
I am trying so hard to keep from laughing out loud.  I'll have to start with the "Ucky Boogies" first.

My 22 month old, Michael, was busy eating an unknown something earlier this evening.  Whatever it was, he was not enjoying it.  Here is my conversation with a child who is just beginning to talk well.

"What's in your mouth?"

"I dough know."

"Can Mommy see it?"

"Yeah."

He hands me (yes you guessed it) a really disgusting piece of nasal matter.    I'm going to re-think holding my bare hand out to retrieve whatever it is he's eating from now on.

I said, "That's yucky.  We don't eat boogers."

And he replied, "Ucky booooo-gies.  Bah!"

I think he's the first toddler I've ever met who doesn't enjoy eating those nasty things.  I knew he was part genius!  I just wish his 5 yo brother would follow suit.

We had Lauren's 9th birthday party today.  It was so much fun.  The kids ran through the sprinkler, ate hamburgers and hotdogs, enough chips to feed a small troop of soldiers, and plenty of cake.  I had planned on making two crafts with the kids.  One was a cute bumble bee mobile that had sayings like "Bee kind, bee honest, be thankful" on it.  The other craft was a darling bracelet the kids could make themselves with flower and butterfly charms.  We never even got to do them.  The kids were having so much fun outside, that even getting them to come inside to fix their lunch plates was difficult.  So we sent home some really awesome party bags with our guests.

I am so blessed to be the mother of these kids!  I had no idea that it could be this wonderful to be a parent.  Of course I have my moments (don't we all?) when I feel completely overwhelmed while playing referee.  I'm just happy there is now an entire aisle devoted to wine at Target.  LOL  It's like a one-stop shop  ~  diapers, baby wipes, laundry detergent, Oreos, vino.

The kids were so exhausted after their busy day, and are now fast asleep.  Now it's time for me to spend some time with my DH Thomas.  Anytime we can actually sit and have a long, adult conversation without interruption is cherished.

Blessings to all.
