Fun 4th of July Weekend
|
Our family had a super fun 4th of July weekend. Thomas and his friend Dave built a monstrous play set in our backyard for the kids. Our old set was falling apart and was here when we bought our house 5 years ago. It took the guys two full days to get it built, but was well worth it. With four kids, we figured they'd get more use out of this one. We've hardly heard any arguing at all. They're too busy playing on the swings, conquering the rock climbing wall, sliding 10 feet down headfirst, and enjoying snacks at the picnic table under the fort to fight. Here's a picture of Lauren, Matthew & Michael posing with their new play set. ![]() The morning of July 4th, I took the kids to see the parade while Thomas played with redwood and power tools. Michael and Ian were safely contained in the double stroller and I allowed the older kids to sit at the curb. You should have seen the enormous amount of candy and other miscellaneous loot they brought home! Our dentist will be so pleased. ![]() After the parade, we went home and watched Daddy and Dave act like Bob the Builder. In the evening, I took the older two kiddos to the swimming pool. We left the pool around 8:30 pm and parked at a church near our house to watch the fireworks. The church is built on a hill, so our view was incredible! The next day we attended a 50th wedding anniversary party for my dear friend Tabitha's parents. We sure had fun! It was held at the Poki Roni Ranch and the kids rode horses, went on a hay ride, had fun getting soaked in a dunking booth, and ran & giggled themselves silly with their friends. Here's Matthew and my friend's daughter on the ponies. ![]() Here's Lauren on a horse. She looks very natural and says she'd like to take riding lessons. We'll see... ![]() I met two of my blogger buddies at the party. My friend Tabitha's nephew is married to Mandi and they have three incredibly beautiful little girls with another sweet baby on the way. I also met Tabitha's niece Hannah and her precious little girl. I had the priviledge of holding her, gushing over her, and remembering what it was like to hold Lauren when she was so tiny! She's very precious and if you click on Hannah's link you'll see that I'm not exaggerating. The hay ride was fun, too. The hay was soft and cushiony, which was good because the ride was bumpy! Here's a picture of Matthew, who had just bobbed for apples ~ Michael, who had just eaten a chocolate chip cookie ~ and blogger buddy Mandi's daughter Maddelyn, who was fresh, clean and all girl. ![]() Here's another cute picture of 15 month old Ian, and Mandi's daughter Caroline. She's about 8 weeks older than Ian and was very curious to see what he was doing in the stroller. "Hey Ian, gimme some of those snacks." ![]() So our weekend is over, tennis camp is starting, and we're getting over the clean-up of another flood at our house. More about that later... |
