Catching Up

We are back and have had a full two weeks. Labor Day weekend my sister came out to visit and we had some thunder boomers comming through and we even spotted a small tornado off in the distance.

the thin darker line is the tornado. We then went to Disneyland durning the week and were evacuated off of Spash Mountian. I thought this was funny do to the fact in all my years I have never been taken off of any ride. We were standing up along the top of the mountain waving down to the people who were looking up at us wondering why we were standing up there. There were about 8 logs in the log jam. We were in log number 7 toward the back of this group.

New Nemo ride. It was fun and I was able to take pictures.

Found this stroller at a consignment store and we used it to go around Disney with. I actually bought a cover and new seat pads and wheels for it from the person who design and sells them, but I can't figure out what I did with the picture of that so this is a before the sprucing up. It was very handy when the younger ones got tired of walking.

runabout before

Last week we went up to Tehachapi enjoyed a quiet week. We went to Bakersfield one day and went to the Kern County Musem. Trying to find pictures without family in them. Safety issue you know.

This is part of the old town at the Musem that showed how Bakersfield was in the begining. This is looking down the street to the hotel and the courthouse/jail. (left) inside a jail cell(right)

Tehachapi also has a Ostrich Ranch. Here is a picture looking out over Cummings Valley from the Ostrich Ranch.

This is Ralph the male and in the far back of the second picture you can see a couple of ostrich eggs which Ralph will sit on during the night.

September socks

These are my September socks that I started and finished up in Tehachapi. I was a little scared to try them because we were told that it was a Fair Isle type of design. I told myself a few months ago when I saw Fair Isle in my teaching myself to knit book that it was a little more chalanging then I wanted to attempt for a few years, but when I got this pattern and it being only the second month I was in the sock blog I felt that I couldn't just not do them and gave it a go. It was fun and not as hard as I thought it would be. Of course there are only the two colors and not the five or so I see in some designs, I may try a harder one later on. Right now I am working on a prayer/nursing shawl. I hope to get two done by the end of the month, two reasons, one is that the first of October is an other sock to make and two is that there will be two new little ones born in our church some time in October. I am going to try and take a picture of all the hanks of yarn DD1, DD2 and I wond in the last few weeks. They are excited that Joann's had a 50% off coupon which I applied to the yarn swift I ordered. Now when I wind balls one of them does not have to be the yarn swift. Ha ha. I hope all these pics turn out.
