Oh its a nice cool morning, the front and back doors are open and the kids are eating oatmeal. It has been a crazy start to the school year but good as well. My one daughter who has been struggling with school for years, is showing great improvement. She still wants to fight about doing work at times, but the boughts are quite a bit shorter. After a long day of math yesterday we sat down on the couch to read her history ...and SHE read the whole thing and did very well. This being after 4:30 in the afternoon. She has ADD and had been on ritelin for almost four years. Last year they wanted to put her on birth control to control her mood swings. DH and I didn't want that and didn't want to counter one drug side effect with an other so we took her to a homeopathic doctor. We have changed her diet and there are great improvements. It was not a quick fix over night change but it is healing her body.We use to loose her around noon for school work now she keeps plugging away and is feeling good about herself.
I am learning too. Math was not my strong suit growing up...oh I did fine with the basics of adding and subtracting, but you could forget everything else. Well this past weekend my DH was going to help go over dividing fractions with one of the kids while I ran an other off to a church activitiy. Now DH is awesome with math and I will normally ask him for the answer of some thing because he can do it in his head in seconds. This day I will chalk it up to a long week and a touch of the flu because he asked me to refresh his brain on dividing fractions. He wanted to do the reciprical (which I like the best because it is the easiest but we hadn't gotten to that part yet) so it was the longer way that we had to do. Without hesitating or looking it up to refresh my brain I grabbed my dry erase marker and headed to the white board and proceded to refresh his brain. To which both he and my DD1(who is also very good at math) went Oh Yea I remember now. I have come along way sense I finished school. LOL See you are never too old to learn. |
