Snap Press is here

Good Morning all. Well my snap pressed arrived Tuesday afternoon.
It is a good size, I put a gallon size milk jug next to it. oh it is a dream to use. well worth the money. I have used the hand held one and was very frustrated with it. Here are the mama cloths with snaps. Not too bad for first attemp. Need some modifications.

Tuesday was crazy. I was gone most of the Morning for appointments and Costco run. We were getting read for Awana's when the snap press came and we were all googling over it when our dog got out and ran away. Now everyone was in there sparky vests, books and Bibles in hand ready to hop in the van. Dog is nowhere to be seen kids are crying that the dog is gone. DD1 and I hop in the van and drive around to look for her. We found her a couple blocks away sitting on the corner looking concerned that she didn't know where she was, then she sees the van, gets all happy and runs at the Van! Ok she is a lab but lab verses van, van will win everytime. I am glad it was me out looking for dog knowing she might do that and not some poor soul coming home after a long day at work. Well as soon as the door opens to the van she bounces in. Everyone is happy, we make it to my friends house on time with no tears. I get to see the engagement ring on her DD1 hand.( I got a call Monday night from the daughter telling me she just got engaged) Oh we are all so happy for them. Wedding is in April. WOOO HOOOO! They are a wonderful couple and we are all so thankful that God has brought them together.

Wednesday is Orthodontist and an exchange at Joann's. Listen when anyone tells you that you need to pre shrink the 100% Warm and Natural cotton batting DON"T. (or any batting for that matter)I bought some on Saturday and not knowing what to do I asked the ladies at the fabric cutting counter if it needed to be pre shrunk, they said oh yes it is cotton it will shrink a good 3 inches. I washed it and it shreaded, I took it back to Joann's Monday an I was told they had to investigate my claim. They then called Tuesday evening to say they would exchange it. So lesson learned DON"T PRE SHRINK COTTON BATTING. Oh I didn't get a picture of that.

That taken care of an DS2 down for nap I attemped to assemble my cloth diapers. I was only able to complete one and I made a mistake trying to hide the snaps inside the diaper under the wicking fabric. You can put the front snaps on before but you can not put the tab snaps on untill after that final layer because of the way the snap faces. My first diaper does not have the finished look I wanted and does not have the wicking layer.
all done close up of the socket s and I put a meduium tag on I thought it would help us all in the long run when he gets into bigger diapers and we have differnt sizes. Here is the inside. The caps to the socket where going to be hidden under the wicking layer along with the stiching you see holding the soaker layers to the inner layer but on the tabs are the studs which can not be covered by the wicking layer if you want the diaper to snap.Tab snaps go on last after wicking and FOE.

I was pointing out all the flaws to my husband and DD1 says "Well Mom what do you all ways tell us? Keep praticing and it will get better this is your first time making these so you can't expect to be perfect. The more you make them the better at it you will get." Hey they do listen ha ha.

This is as far as I have gotten on my New Years January sock of Sockmania. I had to rip it out once and start over when we found out there was a small error in the pattern and of course that was at the very begining. I must admit I didn't see the error but I can sure tell the difference in the pattern now.
I have turned the heal an working on the guesset. Here you may be able to see the pattern. There are dropped stiches in it.

Now I have tried all my life not to drop stiches and then this pattern comes and I am suppose to purposely drop them. Hard mental thing to get over. I had to ask my 15yr old how to do the pattern, she had been playing with drop stiches over the summer. You know an other hard mental thing to get over is I have been making things all my life and it had been engrained in me that you have worked so hard on something that you keep it as clean as possible to not ruin all your hard work. I was really excited about making diaper and I still am, but last night it hit me, where am I going to put that diaper? What is going to happen to it once I put it there? HA HA HA. I explained my mental block to my husband and he found it quite hummerous. Now I have had to deal with two thing this past week which have been tabo for me for years. Dropped stiches are no problem now that I have done them, now I need to put the diaper on my son. Do I do it before his morning poop or after. Well I do only have one made and I want him to wear it longer than 30 minutes. ha ha
