Z finished the main bookwork/experiment part of his Starbase class today. He and another boy tied for the highest grade in the class! A 95.5. I was so excited! You know you feel you're doing a good job as a homeschooling mom, but it feels really good to know you've done enough that they can go elsewhere and still make good grades.
They built rockets and launched them today. The teachers also gave them some cool Starbase mementos: a dog tag, a gold "coin" type of thing, a pin/button, and a nice certificate.
He goes back one more time (next week) and that is for a tour of the base. At each stop, they tell them about various careers and then the requirements in education for that. The focus of the class has been science, math, and engineering so they relate those to being a pilot or firefighter, etc. Parents can go too. I think my hubby will take him and spend the day and I'll stay home with the little ones. I have been very impressed with the class!!
And with the grade made today!!! |
