~ A priase report ~

I am praising and thanking the Lord.  I used the toaster oven today to make Paulie's nuggets, which in the past he has only liked them cooked in a microwave oven.  He took a bite and said, "They are to crunchy."  To which I answered, "Yes, but you need to eat them, it's all we've got.  Besides, it's good exercise for your teeth and mouth."    So he shrugs his shoulders, and eats ALL of them.    He did the same at dinner time too.  So now, we are not in a rush to get a microwave.  I do know there are 'issues' with them, thanks Jane for the information, but I do like their quick convenience.  But after thinking about what we make in there the most, and the fact that Paulie will eat his nuggets from the toaster oven, truly the only one really affected is me.  I like to have quick baked potatoes.  So this will force me to not wait until the last minute to decide what I want for lunch.  We might still get one, but we are going to see how it goes this week.  And if it goes o.k., we might wait until after the first of the year to get one.  This way we can still get the kids a few Christmas gifts.  We did have to borrow some money from the kids piggy banks tonight (which will be paid back) but it got us the few things we needed, like gas for Paul's truck, to make it until Friday, payday.  We still don't have an answer about the cell phones, thank you everyone for your great ideas, we are just keeping that in prayer.  We are all calming down a bit and not so cranky with each other.  So all in all, it's going much better.  I'm just blessed that Paulie is eating his food.  I pray that maybe this will help him expand his eating somehow.

Well it's getting late, but I wanted to put out a quick update on how things are going.  This weekend will be a lazy, family time, weekend.  We are all looking forward to that.  Plus, we are going to a church closer to our house this Sunday to save on gas.  It's affiliated with our current church, and we have been there before, so it should be good.  I'll let you know how it goes.

Lovely to know about your new blog, all looks great.

Money and stuff is tough to deal with,it's something that's been close to our heart. God has done some amazing things through it though,as I'm certain God is with you.

Good Morning JoAnn,
Glad it went well with the toaster oven al la mcnuggets. (happy smile) Yes, the inconvenience is the biggest issue, and the extra dishes involved with warming up leftovers on the stove or oven, but it is forcing me to plan ahead which I guess is good for me. I sometimes like to daydream about living 100 or so years ago, but if I can't even live without my microwave, I better forget the simple life. lol
Glad to hear everything is going smoother there! I will keep on praying for you all - God will provide!

Wouldn't it be an answer to prayer if Paulie would expand his texture pallet because of this! I totally understand. Ryan has a texture aversion. It's funny that nuggets are the only meat Ryan will eat, period! He's not even my sensory issue child, she doesn't have texture problems with food! I have given up on Ryan. We spent one summer, trying to get him to try new things, at our doctor's prompting. He ended up having a stomach work up: xray, labs, medicine to help with the acid reflux he developed during all of this! It just isn't worth it. He basically eats 6 different things: macaroni and cheese, pizza, nuggets, grilled cheese, plain spaghetti, PB&J on a whole wheat. I can get him to eat an occasional tortilla with cheese on it. Oh, he likes yogurt too. It makes life challenging sometimes, but usually, he cooks for himself. I make our dinner and if he won't eat it, he can make nuggets or PB&J. Sorry for the book. I just never shared this with you before.
What does Paulie like to eat besides nuggets?
Jenn

Hi JoAnn,
So sorry to hear about your financial struggles. There was a time we went through that, back when we had babies. It was hard. We had been well off when single, so it was really different all of a sudden. I took it as a bit of an adventure, to see where I could save and what I could do without. It was such a huge deal to make a decision whether or not to buy a $3 toy for J.T. It was easier when we were far removed from everyone (family and old friends.) We were even on the WIC program for formula and juice and whatever. That really felt weird.
I hope you can find a way to make it not as stressful. Hey, I have friends who do this thing where they assemble products at home as a family for $. Answered some kind of an ad. Don't know much about it, though.
Praying you'll figure things out well and easily and that it will get better for you. I appreciate you sharing your heart in these things.

November 10, 2007 - Doing without it....

Posted by Jaimers
Hey JoAnn, the first time my sister used our new microwave (back in 1992), she caught it on fire with a bag of popcorn. We went five years without one and did quite well.

We'll use our toaster over or our counter top roaster/oven for cooking anything before I'll nuke it in the microwave. If you can do without one, sometimes it's better. My kids really got into stove top popcorn after awhile. Now they beg for it instead of the microwave ones.

Good luck with it.

I am so thankful that your son ate the chicken. Both of my children seem to have sensory issues. PC seems to be over most of his, but LO has issues still sometimes. They can be hard to deal with and people have trouble understanding. LO worse thing seems to be sunlight. Poor little guy has a horrible time in bright sun and they haven't found anything physically wrong with him. He's been known to have to wear sunglasses in the pool just because he couldn't stand the sun.

I'm glad so happy to hear of the great praise report. I actually prefer my chicken nuggets done in the toaster oven.
