~ This and that ~

Posted in Ramblings
I have made my rambling post from earlier a private post now.  Thanks to all of you who left me encouraging and sweet comments.  They were nice to read, you are all very sweet.

I have finished the cross-stitch Christmas present I was making.  It's a pillow that says Grandma on it, with a pretty flower border.  I know I should put a picture out for you to see, but I'm just not up to it right now.  Maybe another time.  Now I'm trying to figure out what to make next.  I think I'll be making a couple of "Welcome" signs for some family members to hang on their walls.  I'm just trying to find some free alphabet letter charts for cross-stitch, that are at least 12 stitches high.  I have one set that is 18 stitches high, but it's a cursive type, and it's not what I'm picturing for my signs.  So I'm on the search.

I got one of the last boxes unpacked today!    It was the box with all our board games in it, the kids are very happy.  I have two more boxes that had my china cabinet things in it.  I don't use those that much, so they are not really missed, I'll go through them soon.  It felt good to get the pillow done, the box unpacked, and I had to take about 10 patches off of Paul's old work shirts.  The shirts are in good condition, he just didn't want the patches on anymore.  Thankfully, they were just sewed on, not ironed on, so they came off easy enough.  So I feel like I have accomplished a lot today, I always like that feeling.

The kids are a bit under the weather.    Sarah had a sore throat and runny nose the past couple of days.  Just yesterday she told me her belly hurt too the whole time, I didn't know that.  Now, Paulie has it.  He has a sore throat and his belly hurts, he's letting me know right away.    We did get school done today, we'll see how tomorrow goes.  We really want to go to Wednesday night church service at the church in our town.  But, again, we'll have to wait and see.  With the gas prices getting so high, we'll be going to the church here in our town, instead of the one we've been going to.  We do like the family feel of the one we've been going too, the one here in town is very big, no family feel.  But it's only about 4 minutes away, and it's big, so it has lots of outreach type stuff.  So with it so close, and the gas prices so high, it's probably where we'll be going for a while.  We went last Sunday, and it was good.  Sarah was nervous about the youth group, but she stayed and enjoyed herself.  Paulie liked his class, and the sermon seemed to be just for me and Paul.  On Wednesday I don't think they have a class for Paulie, but Sarah would have youth group.  Paulie would stay with us and read one of his books during service.  We haven't been to a mid-week service in years, and I do mean years. Plus this church has a men's bible study every week, and about 5 different women's bibles studies I can choose from.  Those would be nice, and we could get to know some people around here, and get the family feeling from those.  But we will see.  We just keep it all in prayer, and go week by week.  All we know is right now, with the gas prices, this is where we need to go.  And we are blessed there, so that is a plus.

I'm watching food network right now, and it's one of their old Thanksgiving specials.  But it's got me thinking, I need to get my Thanksgiving meal list going.  We are celebrating it here at our new house, just us and the kids.  We are looking forward to it, it should be a good time.  I'm dealing with issues from my family because of it, but I just keep giving that to the Lord.  We are doing what we know we are to do, so we are just focusing on that.  Plus, the new church is having a Wednesday night Thanksgiving communion service.  That should be lots of fun.  But I really need to get my list going, otherwise, I forget what I want to make.

Well, I'm off to read some blogs, and search for a cross-stitch alphabet chart.  I hope everyone has a great night (or day, depending on when you are reading this ).

I feel your pain...sick kids and all. We seem to be on the mend. I probably complained too much. Anyway, I hope your kids perk up and you do not get it. Mom's are not supposed to get sick. Keep that in mind.

I love your avatar! I, also, wanted to tell you, you look like my little sister. See? You could be part of my family! Hang in there with family. They will come around. I didn't speak to my brother for over nine years when he hit some rough patches and kept asking for money everytine he called. (We had been generous but he kept asking for more and he is an Architect earning more then twice our income!) Anyway, due to me telling him not to call if he was only asking for money, he stopped calling and I didn't hear from him till last Christmas when he showed up on our doorstep with his nine yo son. So I have my brother back now and a nephew!

We'll be having a quiet thanksgiving since both my spouse and I are working. We'll be getting together the next day so the boys can wakeboard while my sister and I cook them a feast. Trust in the Lord and it will all work out.

(((hugs)))

Hi Joann. I am glad that you let me know about your blogland move. I was reading some of your past blogs to catch up and wanted to let you know what we did about cell phones...We could not justify having both a land line and a cell so we just dropped the land line! This works great. We even kept our old phone number so people don't realize they are actually calling me while I am in the grocery store! Have a great day..

Hope your children get to feeling better. I always feel so bad for my kids when they're sick.
I use to cross stitch years ago, then I started having problems with my wrist, I could probably start up again, but I don't think I have the patience.
Gas....wow, hasn't it been creeping up. It cost us $6 a trip into town, so for services and bible classes we usually make 5 trips a week, thats not counting shopping trips or homeschool stuff. $$$$
Have a great day..

Yeah on unpacking and finishing the pillow ! I wish I knew of a free online pattern for x=stitch. I haven't done much in x-stitching for a long while. My brain is so full with hs that I can't seem to count in detail. lol I choose crafts that I don't have to count much. [ 0; Maybe ....one day.

November 14, 2007 - Sad Face

Sad face that I didn't get to "share" your life because I got too busy to read blogs last night! But it sounds like things are going OK with you. Too bad about the sick kids. Bummer. I spent my morning at Michaels, Party City, and Costco---yes, the Thanksgiving "thing." I'm hosting and THIS year I'm going to be organized and make things look NICE. (I'm just too laid back to usually do the "pretty" stuff. But I bought some thanksgiving paper plates, tablecloth, and even a centerpiece (80% off!), so I will not be a dishonor to my mother, who is coming! LOL
I'm a "country" girl and not to interested in our temporary dwellings (AKA houses), so I tend to not redecorate, etc. Someday I'll do a S&T on the junky old place we've had for 30 years! We put a sliding glass door in our bedroom about 3 or 4 years ago, but....WAIT! There is no deck, no steps, nothing but a drop off to the flower bed! LOL

I wish youth groups knew what it was like to really welcome a new youth..Our youth has got good about saying hi but not going past that..Now were working on bringing youth to set with them and included them..It hard at that age when first impression is so important..So tell her to give youth a little time she will be dragging you to church soon..

Hope both kids are better soon..Jamin wrote on homeopathy She may be able to teach you something that cost less than a doctors appt if they do not get better.. Here is the post
